Default Reds Racing V8 1/8 brushless motors

Hi!
Does anyone have any experience with these motors from Reds Racing?
Looks good on paper but would be interesting to know what people who tried them think.

Cheers!

I have the 2100 in my Truggy and that think is as fast as my Tekin 2250. Temps are great and seems to be a great motor. There are at least 5 other people at our local track that are running them in ebuggy and I haven't seen one fail yet. There are also several of us running the 1/10 motors and they are just as powerful.

Nice to hear! Just bought both the 1/8 and 1/10. Looking forward to try them out.

I have one in my JQ White edition and I love it. It's equally as good as the Tekin I had before.

I want to try a reds in my new agama A215E, what should I choose 1900 or 2100? Will pair it with the new reds esc for 1/8.

I like the fact that the sensor port has the option to come out of the top of the can, that can help a lot with fitment of certain escs if they make a truggy version of the motor in the ET48.

Go the 2100. You can always turn the power down.

That is true. 2100 has more rpm compared with the 1900 but does it have enough torque to power a 1/8 buggy smooth or do I need to keep up the rpm to have the torque just like you do with a nitro engine? Hope you understand what I am asking.

Get the 1900 % you'll never wish for more. 2100 is too much for just about anybody to use effectively and turning down @ the ESC makes the throttle curve act funny.

I'm new to 1/8th scale.

I've bought a new HobbyWing XR8 Plus and a used REDS V8 1900kv motor.

As far as I can tell, it's not running in sensored mode properly. When I power on the ESC, the motor shudders back and forth 3 times, then when I apply power you get nothing for the first section of the trigger pull, then a fairly jerky start off the line.

I've tried 2 different sensor cables, and no sensor cable, and the result is always the same.

Is anyone else using this combination with success?

First part of your problem sounds like it might be startup, when the xr8 starts it sends 3 short low power bursts to the motor, signaling it's functioning as it should.
For the second issue I just put one in, and it seems to be doing this as well. I will try a few things and get back to you

I've realized this is an old post, but maybe it will help someone.
I spoke with Reds todsy via facebook, first advice was to remove the sensor wire which worked well, I then hooked up the program box and switched from hybrid which my old motor needed, to full sensored, and reconnected the sensor. This seemed to fully resolve the cogging. And it open the option for timing. Which may or may not work. Likely wont
Ackchyually likes this.
