Must have been from a bad batch, that's the first one I've broken that wasn't caused by a notched outdrive.

those shocks are a bit beat up, you might consider rebuilding them.
Thanks. They're good, just dirty.

Overkill, can you tell us more about the cordova motors? I have different Castle, TPPower, Alien Power, and Tenshock motors... but I know you are always looking for the best, so I'm curious about Cordova since you seem to be using them. They have a pretty no-nonsense website - no marketing - just motors.

How does your cordova compare to similarly-sized motors from other manufacturers? I find castle to be reliable and user-friendly but middle of the road, for any given volume. Volume is what I care about most, i.e. for a given can size, which motor gives you the most sustained power output, i.e. lowest heat for a given application.

The Cordova is performing very well. It will quickly find any weak link in the drivetrain. It's the most powerful motor I've ran and I haven't seen the temperature go over 115. The low end torque is violent.

I posted this a few pages back.

"This fine specimen is a Cordova 1440, 2000kv, 40.6x102mm, 631g The craftsmanship put into this motor is way beyond what you'll find in typical Chinese mass produced motors. It doesn't have fancy anodizing and other fluff but I guarantee you this motor will outperform most anything out there. Cordova and Neu are the best of the best. Generally speaking the heavier the motor the better performance it's going to have. Which usually means it has more copper wire inside. Cordova is well known for putting the maximum amount of copper wire that can physically fit inside the can. For example, my TP4070 is the same exact dimension at 40x102mm but it weighs 585g, that's quite a bit of air in there. Look forward to running this one."

I called Cordova and spoke with them, in the end I went with the TenShock 1950KV 4.5Y 6 Pole for my MT410. Price wasn't a factor, fitment etc was

Yeah the wires sticking out of the end makes fitment hard with the stock layout.

This is my rear gearbox big bearing modification (8x16x4).

Machined front side, uses 8x16x4 bearing.

Machined rear side, uses 8x16x4 bearing.

The stock pinion bearings are 5x13x4, that's too small for me

Steel bushing, 5x8x8mm

She's ready to run! I ended up pressing in the steel bushing with a vice on each side of the bearing, it's not moving and is rock solid. Everything spins smooth, ready to rock & roll 👍

good work ! but i think the plastic around the ball bearing is too thin... i agree with you that the small ballbearing is only OK for buggy racing applications... hobao uses a 19x8x6mm ballbearing on their monster truck hyper MT ! great idea !

I think it will work and if there was an issue of being thin in that area it would have cracked
When machined.

So good job!

Thanks. I think it will be fine because the plastic/composite is so thick and rigid. That's a beefy bearing.

Gearing change datalog comparisons

This test was conducted on my EB48.3 buggy. The motor is a Castle 1515 2200kv along with a cheap 6S battery. Full throttle on the 37T pinion was extremely limited due to traction and running out of space.

15/23/37 pinion

Watts - 1275/2182/4993
Current - 54/103/268
RPM - 48,844/46,827/32,511
