Default Vintage Nats

George,
I never got to say thanks for everything and take care this past weekend. I hope ya'll are coming up for vintage nats. The rules are pretty much anything 1993 or older, but also including the Tamiya Re-releases.
Any new electronics can be used. Limitations are 27t brushed or 17.5 brushless for all classes. 6 cell NiMH or any 2 cell lipo. Classics class will be handouts as Freddy has mentioned in the thread. This is an awesome race.....I have attended the first two years and RCHR is a top notch facility.
Feel free to give me a call anytime.
Matt

Holy Smokes.....I thought that was a PM, but anyway.
Tires are pretty much open as well........class permitting; as in you can't run 2.2s in the heavy metal class.

I plan on using modern electrics.

What tires should I run or am I allowed to use?
You can run modern 2.2 tires in the Classics Class, JC Double Dees are the tires of choice at RCHR for the Vintage Nationals, Proline Holeshots and JC Goosebumps also work well...
What mods can I do to the original?
You can mod up your Classics Class car, with stuff like modern shocks, CVDs, any period correct mods are also allowed for this class.
thanks for any and all help
berm
Hey Berm,

Glad to hear you're coming to the VONATs...

The Novice(14 and under) "Classics Class" is $25 and it will be run with Tamiya Silver Can Motors only, the Regular "Classics Class" will be $40 and it will include a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor with the entry Fee, both classes will be limited to those motors.

Get some of your buddies to come down also... the more the merrier...

I can try to be there. But there's only one issue: my slowest motor is a 10.5, and although I do have 27-turn brushed motors, I prefer to use BL motors for the obvious reasons. And so I ask, is it possible for me to put my 10.5 in an RC10 Gold pan and limit the throttle on my transmitter's EPA or even slow down the timing on the ESC, so its comparible to a 17.5? Thanks in advance.

What's the Obvious reason??

A 27 turn with a lipo battery is as fast, if not, sometimes faster than a 17.5...

I ran a CO27 at the 08 VONATs without rebuilding it, and runing NIMH batteries and kept up with everyone. I ran the same motor in our club racing, with an Orion 3800 Lipo and was able to keep up with the 10.5 powered cars...

the motor is in the car....
there is no changing of motor/esc or any re-programming of the esc or the TX.

Depending on what gear he has he may need to buy a esc and a 27t....

Times have changed and the scales have moved in the direction of BL....

Oh, I agree completely, I have brushless set ups on all my rides, but, you don't need the latest and greatest to be competitive in this race.

As I stated before, I ran a GTX brushed esc and a 27t CO27 stock motor in my Losi XX with NIMH batteries, and my car was as fast if not faster than most of the cars running a 17.5/Lipo combo.
