Default Kyosho MP7.5 Kanai

I picked up a Kyosho MP7.5 and I'm not sure if its the Kanai version.

I'm pretty sure its the stock chassis since its pretty scratched up, so in looking at the bottom of the chassis, there are longitudinal grooves milled into the metal.

Is this a way to tell its the Kanai version? The reason I'm asking is if I need to order parts for it, then I know what to look for. I know its an MP 7.5, but just not 100% sure of the version.

Thanks

Ohh, an old favorite. Used to run a Kanai III.
There are three versions, the Kanai I, II & III and there are small differences. A few key points below.

The Kanai III has a milled out chassis and the front diff is a TCD diff. It also came with all Ti screws.
The Kanai II does not have a milled out chassis and both front and center diffs are TCD.
Never seen a Kanai I so I don't have any key points to look out for.

It's very easy to see if it is a Kanai vs. Standard version since all Kanai versions came with all the goodies such as better shocks and adjustable turnbuckles.

Liked the Kanai III very much and the later MP777 SP2 drives very similar to this one.

At the bottom of the chassis, bellow the engine? I think Fioroni used to do that.

The first Kanai had TCD diffs front and center, the front end had the 17 degrees hubs and swept upper arms. Other than that it was the same as the K2, the K3 had longer rear shocks too.

Yep, that's exactly where they are. Saw a picture online somewhere (of course cant find it now) showing the same bottom with just those milled grooves in it.

The only way to determine which Kanai version this is, is to check the diffs and the other details posted. The Fioroni chassis is an aftermarket hop-up.

To be really picky this could well be a standard MP7.5 with upgrades, however this would be a hugely expensive venture.

If the car has all the goodies then it's a good car in any case. It drives very well for sure.

Hmm, IIRC the Kanai III had only 1 disc.
Tossed them out anyway and went with Cradock fiberglass discs, worked much better.

Yeah the K1 and K2 had twin brake disks front and rear. I still have the K3 ones though, they're A+. Ditto on the "drives very well" too.
