HobbyPLEX Wednesday Carpet Racing!!!
#77
Hi, this is my first post and i have a few questions about the on-road racing. I know its on Wednesday.
What time does it start?
What time does it normally end?
I know the only class i'd probably fit into would be vintage (i have 2003 xxx-s losi), but for class requirements the other thread lists a certain kind of tire. Is it a thickness requirement (or limit), or is it an actual brand?
What does non-ramping mean for the motor?
And lastly, does the hobbyplex sell the vintage bodies (if they do) how much do they go for?

Welcome to the forum! On Wednesday Racing starts at 7 with registration prior to that. It is good to get there a little early (I try to be there by 630) to get everything set-up and ready. I usually get done between 1000 and 1100 depending on the night.
The Vintage class requires specific tires on specific wheels as well as a novak 25.5 brushless setup. I believe the plex has the bodies and they would be in the $20-$30 range. Spec speed controls (Like the Novak GTB) don't allow you to adjust the timing which is what used for the VTA class. You could use your car in the other touring car classes, Vintage is more about the style of the wheels/body and the spec motor/esc. http://www.usvintagetransam.com/

Tires: HPI 26mm in the front 31mm in the rear ( numbers on website)
Get a Novak 25.5 and you are good.
Yep. The plex has most of them.
XXX-S setup
Long parallel links
SOFT springs 40-30 oil
2* camber
That will get you started.

No pre-prep, "just full sauce & make it work" (overheard Kenny quote)

I'll add to that - be ready to play with rear toe and anti squat. For some reason the xxx-s was always very sensitive to that in VTA. If it is loose in the rear and your tires are right - don't be afraid to put lots of toe in into it (via the hubs) and the inner hinge pin options can make a big difference too. It is an easy car to change anti squat on in the back and getting it right can really make the car come alive.
In the front I usually ran the arms parallel to the chassis.
The xxx-s can still be very competitive at a club level on everything but a very high bite layout. It is a great low maintenance club car as long as you can get parts. It was a favorite of mine for quite a while.

Just to expand on Stephens info.

So after Xmas when we start the new series is there any interest in changing TC classes slightly to better match some TCS classes? It would be cool to be better prepared when TCS arrives. I'd just like to get my setup down and get used to the speeds I'll need to run. For those that don't know the classes I'll give a short breakdown.
GT3 - silver can or 21.5 no boost - so basically our USGT class
GT2 - 17.5 no boost
GT1 - 13.5 no boost
I'll be racing GT1 for sure and possibly GT2 (if I can find a Tamiya tub car to borrow) so I'd be up for either 17.5 or 13.5.
Any interest?

Sorry it took so long to reply. Thank you SCStevins and C&B RC. 10 or 11 is a little late for me, but if its not on a school night I'll do my best to be there. See you guys then and have fun racing!
