The City of Eagan is looking for input on the redesign of the current Eagan BMX track into an off road RC park.
The new track is planned to have a dedicated (1/10th / 1/8th scale) Off Road Track and 1/10 scale Crawler track.
The track will be located at the Diffly / Lexinton Park near the current Skate Park.
Enter the following in Google Maps for the planned park location: 4201 Lexington Ave S, Eagan, MN 55123
I met with the Superintendent of Parks today and the city is on-board and setting funding aside. Leveling of the current area is planned over the next few month along with building of the crawler track "to open late fall 2018". The City would like to begin building the new off-road track first thing next spring (2019) and is looking for ideas in track layout. The City is planning on having a meeting this fall to discuss the track layout, all are welcome. Once the meeting date is finalized I will post the date and time below.
The city is looking to build an area were all can enjoy off road RC action. They do not envision racing events to be held here. The track will be open to all for test and tune, bashing and having a good time. If you are local to the area and would like to put your 2 cents in while we are in the planning phase, please post below. Heck even if you don't have anything technical to contribute drop a line below and let the City know how much interest there is for a park like this.
As of this post the City is open to the following ideas:
Off Road Track. (2019)
Crawler Track. (2018)
Covered Pavilion with Power. (2019)
Raised Drivers Stand. (2019)
Park water is already at the track to wet the track down when needed.

LST2, I will go and check it out sometime this week as well. Hopefully, now that the weather has warmed up a bit we will see some changes if that's the plan. If not, might be worth stopping by the P&R desk to see if the plans still play.

The RC track at the Eagan location has been designed and dirt has been moved. It is currently in the first stage of modifications with final configuration and layout to occur as the spring/summer session progresses. It is sure to be a good addition for the RC community!
We have also reached out to the city for a crawler course design and further equipment as well.
The track is currently 120' long by 40' wide. There are 4 lanes of rollers, jumps and straightaways for speed runs.
