Hand-out Motor 101
Guys, please understand our reasons behind the hand-out motors. We would like to make racing fair and equal for everyone. In our experience with the Mabuchi/ Johnson motors, there are so many variants (eg. 2 holes, 4 holes, alien technology) that it would be more frustrating and unfair to have a very fast motor run against a slow motor.
Now, if we hand-out the motors, all motors will start brand new and all are of the same model/make. You will all have the same amount of break-in time with your motors.
For the Stock Touring class, your motor will be the 540 silver can. We will sell this at 550 pesos only and you are allowed to buy 2 motors. If you think that a 550-peso motor would be too much for you to ensure fair and equal racing for everyone, then we cannot help you anymore. Maybe you are not yet ready for the Tamiya Cup.
For the M-chassis Class, your motor will be the Sport-tuned motor. We will sell this at 750 pesos only and you are allowed to buy 2 motors. I trust the M-chassis racers to be familiar with this motor as we already had a lot of mini races using this motor. As you know, this motor is already fast and putting it on the M-chassis car would make the car ballistic, but we also know that the mini is very hard to drive and to setup.
For the Buggy Class, your motor will be the Dirt-Tuned motor. We will sell this at 1,298 pesos only. This is a 27-turn lightly tuned motor designed for use in off-road racing and for Tamiya official grand prix races. Worn-out brushes can be replaced to maintain optimum performance and features a chip type noise reduction condenser and heat-sink type end bell for effective heat dissipation. This is a new motor from Tamiya and this would be the first time we will run this motor so its performance is still a mystery to us. But we are sure that this motor would be faster than the Sport-tuned motor that we used in the TAC last year. Anyway, the motor performance would be the least of your worries as the jumps would be the challenge for this class.
Motor hand-out procedures:
-All hand-out motors will be distributed during the driver registration.
-All hand-out motors will have a special mark that makes it the official motor for the TAC
-Inspectors will be looking for this mark during inspection of motors
-Racers will pick the motors themselves, not the organizers
-In case you are not happy with your motor, you can buy another one
-Racers must put their name on the box of the motor and on the motor itself for identification
-Hand-out motors will be returned after the race
-If you fail to return the motor during the raceday, you will need to buy another motor for the next raceday. You must be careful about this.
-Inspectors will conduct a post-race check on the motors
-Organizers will keep the motors and distribute on the next raceday.
The hand-out motors are yours already when you buy them, we will just keep it for you and distribute them during the raceday. You will use them for the entire duration of the TAC Philippine Qualifiers which is 6 rounds only.
Here in the Tamiya Cup we want the driving skill to come out as the victor. The conditions that we present to you now will be the same conditions that you will face in the Tamiya Asia Cup in Taiwan. In the TAC Taiwan, you will have very little time to break-in your motor or do anything to it to make it fast. You have to concentrate on your driving and car handling instead.
