Yeah - clean is key. Going between acrylics and lacquers is a test of you well you can clean. I was there too. Now I have one for acrylics and one for lacquers. Way better that way.

with pactra i thin 50/50 with medium drying laquer thinner

after using water based i unscrew the tip and soak it in auto-air airbrush cleaner over night....then run a q-tip down into the needle channel

dried acrylic is a sumbiotch

keep trying ..........but stay away from urathanes........pure junk for r/c purpose

Yeah, I learned pretty early on to soak the tips after using acrylic. Now...when I'm done the tips go strait into a jar of cleaner and never come out until I'm ready to paint again. That way, any paint inside never gets a chance to harden.

Another problem is I refuse to spend an hour cleaning up the brush(s). I need a sonic parts cleaner that I can stick the entire brush in to clean it out.

Do you cut the head off the q-tip? I'm afraid of little strands of cotton getting left behind and clogging up the system.

first i will dip the q-tip in thinner run it around what i can...then just pull the cotton off the other end ...leaving alittle cotton ...dip that in thinner and dig around in the channel that the needle goes through

wipe the needle with thinner

after cleaning i will drop some iwata oil down the trigger to oil the air valve and a drop on the needle before it goes back in

once you go straight lacquer clean up is a breeze
