I wouldn't recommend one of the Losi charge converters myself. Zig had one and I thought he said it charged his lipo over the 8.4v limit which isn't a good thing.

Gary...it cut off at 8.44 and is still cutting off at that. I don't actually trust that milenium read out, if you set the charge amperage at 4.8 it really charges at 4.7 or 4.6...or thats what it says. Dustin has been using his Losi converter without any problem... No company would release something that they thought could be hazardous...eventhough there is a disclaimer on the instructions. but everything that has a drop of solder in it comes with a warning from california telling you that the product can cause cancer!
If you are entry level and want to get a lipo and have a compatible charger to use the Losi converter...by all means do it! You'll be just fine as long as you folow the instructions.

I just picked up a couple reedy lipos and went with a bantam e-station. My requirement for a charger is it has to have a built in power supply. We'll have to see how it works out.
Time for some Grilling before it gets too cold.

Also Regarding Lipo's...........I run the Maxamps Lipos. Max amps offers a 3 year 300 cycle limited warranty on there packs if you pay a little extra. I bought 8000mah lipos which is a bit of an overkill. The 8000's are thicker and dont fit(as well) where 6-cell nimh do. On the other hand you'll only need one. I use these packs in tourings cars plus my xxxt-cr with very little modification. Rick runs the 6000's, They seem to fit anywhere a side by side pack does.
I smoked a lipo once. When the voltages drops below 3.2 volts per cell thats it. Mine swelled up and died
$150.00 thrown away. If I would have bought the warranty Maxamps would have replaced for FREE!!! I ended up spending around $60.00 on a new cell, Fixing the pack. I bought the warraty on my next pack
