Default Motors

Since somebody asked...All of the testing mentioned here is my experience on an RX8 or RX8 Gen2.

I've run the TenShock 5200 in my SCT410, and is one of my favorite motors, though my wife drives it in her truck now. I liked it a lot, but the only ESC I could get it to work right with was an RX8. The SCT Pro it came bundled with couldn't keep it from cogging bad and doing silly things often, though the SCT Pro worked great with the Tekin Pro4 4000 that I paired it with before selling in a SCTE. Note that Hobbywing has stated that all future ESCs and firmware updates will NOT work with TenShock motors. I stopped following them at this point though, so if that has changed, somebody please correct.

I've more recently been running the Hobbywing 4700 and doing well with it, and have no complaints.

The Tekin Pro4 4600 works ok, but tends to run hotter and not have as much bottom end to it.

The Tekin Pro4 HD 4300 I haven't tried, but it looks quite good from everything I've seen.

I haven't tried the Novak combo, but a couple folks loved it at the track, until it blew up (feeling slow for a couple weeks before it did).

Lastly, I've just started playing with the Team Powers SC motor that is just coming out. I need a bit more time with it to make it feel the way I want, but it also works quite well so far.

On my RC8 the diff housings are sometimes not perfect all the way around. When you put them on a flat surface and get eye level when the cup meets the surface you will sometimes see small gaps between the diff cup and table. If it's not real bad you can fix with an extra gasket, or you can put some sandpaper on the table and sand down the diff case in a circular motion until all the gaps are gone.

Like I said, never seen with the Tekno, but could see how it could happen with any plastic mold.
Most definitely!!! I'm a mold tech for a plastic injection molding company. Warp is usually caused by insufficient cooling of the part before ejection out of the mold. Either from the lack of cooling time in the mold, or insufficient cooling of the steel (mold). There are other contributors like fill speed and hold time (and pressure). Those diff cases probably get molded around a steel core pin in the mold. Those bigger pins are sometimes hard to keep cool during the process, unless the pins are made from a beryllium copper.

Sorry, getting off the main topic a bit!! LOL!!

I should be ok, hopefully! I followed the diff filling instructions close to make sure I didn't overfill it. At least I'll know how to fix it if it does leak!

Thanks for all of the input, I appreciate it!!

AKA premounts for Losi SCTE, I hate gluing tires and AKA is arguably the best tire, foam and rims out there. Retail pricing I never pay, eBay or look around can be found for $20 sometimes for a pair.
I only need 3 tires on all the outdoor tracks I run on, one of these always works as good as any other tire for that given day:
1- Gridirons- most used tire ever for me
2- City Blocks - for when it's a little loose or dusty
3- Enduros- seem to work when others don't and last a long time
I have also been liking the Impact and it may take the place of the Enduro in my lineup.
Soft unless it's 100f I would use medium or even hard.

I gave my friend one wheel worth of the http://www.teknorc.com/shop/tkr5571-...ct-width-4pcs/ Tekno part and he's (sooner or later) making a few sets out of Ti that's laying around the shop.

100% agreed aka is the best tire, and foams IMO city blocks and enduros are my go to tires.

Ive noticed the pin is far from the hex on the tekno 17mm. But the ofna has the normal pin thru the hex section. Should put the wheels right nex to the hub like standard.

I wonder if the EB hub (needed for the 1/8 axle bearings right?) puts the hex the same distance out as the SCT hub. If it does, that's a possible solution. Thanx for the info.
I will probably just run the 12mm hex for now till my buddy finishes the program to clone the Tekno 17mm SCT hex adapter. The 12mm's will hold up just fine, but the wheel is more stable under side load against a 17mm hex than a 12mm hex.

I have multiple 17mm wheel/tire sets from my Mugen that will be put back to work once I have the parts.

Give the 8x1.4s a shot. I really like them. Pair them with 40wt/35wt (ae) oil and smile.

I think they will be ok. I was looking for more pack so that will get me going in the right direction. I use losi oil so will have to play with it a little.

The enduros have worked very well for me on our clay track. And also last longer than most other tires I used on it like blockades
