Tekno SCT410 Thread

I know this was touched on earlier in this thread but I was wondering why the rear springs for the Tekno are so much lighter weight than the SCTE springs? With the 410 weighing a good .5lb more than the SCTE out of the box I would think the spring rates would start a little heavier to begin with? The SCTE 1.0 front springs are 3.6, 3.9, 4.3 for fronts and the rears are 3.0, 3.3, 3.6 (Again 1.0 springs not 2.0). The Tekno Red rears end at 2.93 and that's the lightest the scte starts with. May be the cause for the nose down attitude. On mine I don't notice this as much with a well groomed track but when the lips of jumps get a little blown out rear definitely kicks up more than usual.

Maybe different F/R weight balance between the trucks. But, it does seem that lots of folks are liking setups with stiffer rear springs than the kit springs.

Suspension geometry is as important as weight in dictating what spring rates are optimal.

This is true. The length between the inner arm pivot and the shock mount location (lever arm) is longer on the SCT410, so we can use a softer spring since the spring has more leverage to keep the chassis up.

I was playing around to see how far back i could get the battery back in my sct410.
Here's what I came up with. it moves the battery back a good 2 1/2 inches. I had to countersink a few holes in the chassis to fit the ofna nexx battery tray.
I am worried about raising the COG though, although I'll see if it gives me a little more air control.

I was at the Top Gun race last weekend at SDRC and all of the top Tekno trucks were running these carbon fiber air guards ..... I ordered a set today ...... looks like they are made by hot lap rc and come in a few different colors!

I stopped running the air guards. While they stop parachute a little they turn the whole truck into a wing on big jumps. Better to have a good vented body. A little parachute is easier to deal with than the truck taking off.

I cant wait to try them. I was checking out all of the PRO 4 trucks and the winner Matt Olsen MIP has air guards on his ride. Plus the top three finishers in the PRO 4 a main driving tekno sct410 trucks had these exact carbon fiber air guards on their trucks. All of them seemed to fly through the air very consistent and low to the ground.

Thx for the info. I've been waiting on someone to make these. Just ordered a set my self

Possibly, but many places don't allow for body modification beyond wheel clearance issues. If where you race allows this, certainly might be easier.

They don't seem to be carbon, they will flex, not crack. Maybe a better material than carbon for this application though with marshals using it to flip your truck.
