I agree its just another part with multiple versions and part #'s. I bet they were updated to add some strength for the truggy and it is probably cheaper to implement it across the whole line rather than have multiple molds with multiple #'s so it makes sense I guess. Probably not a part that gets replaced often if at all so it should be good.

I ran a 17 pinion with my HW 4000kv motor and the v3 speed control. Timed , boosted. 150 ' straight 34 second lap times.

I finally got to drive the truck today; though only on 2s so it was slow but still had enough torque to hold it sideways . It turns on a dime, it is predictable, only a little body roll even in high grip situations. I am excited to see what a 3s can do to liven this thing up and see if things improve or I just end up in the wall lol. :-)

This truck is heavy but if set up,correctly, I have a HW 4700 with 17tooth and I can outrun some 1/8 and keep up with most even on the biggest tracks. I get 10+ with 6500 and up packs motor temps at 140-150. I predict the wall on 3s. In buggy form no problem

I've got a 2400kv Castle motor so it's gonna need the extra voltage lol. If I geared up, it'd be good enough for NorCal's indoor track. But I'm more of a basher and only get to track it every once in a while =/ Until we get a track a lot closer at least.

Alot of the tracks around here are pretty twisty lately no long straight's. When I was running the 4000kv HW i ran a 15 or 16 tooth with some timing and never had it over 160. The HW is definitely one of the motors at the top of the food chain. I just got a really good deal on the HD so i figured I'd give it a shot.

I wish roar allowed 3s, you can get more runtime and not stress the equipment while 2s is meant to save money but we puff batteries and fry ESC regularly. The Losi and Tekno both require 50c 6500 plus batteries to make 10 minute mains and so far the HW motor and ESC has worked best for me. Tekin was great too but the 4700 has the power to keep the nose up on my Tekno and its crazy fast. As fast as my XB9 with Tekin 1900

Is anyone having any issues with heat running the V3 or 3.1 hobbywing ESCs? I never really considered them for the big heavy SC trucks. Thinking about trying it but would really like to hear how well they are working from folks that are using them.

I ran a v3 in my SCTE for nearly 2 years w/o a single issue.. I'd say as long as the fan is running you're just fine. I would disable the thermal for motor and esc though so you don't get false triggers

HW HW HWHWHGHGWHWHWHWHWHWH.... Does anyone run real electronics anymore?
-------

I'm going to stick with the Pro 4 4600 due to it's Roar legality with my racing. The Pro 4 HD really is the ticket but I don't want to "deal" with it at a later date.

Thanks Cain, and others for your Tekin advice.

Next is to lighten this brick up.

(Before your typical freak out: I'm being an ass to be just that. An Ass. Run what you want.)

running the V3 with boost, the hottest it's seen was 130 and that was with 90 degree ambients. it's usually right around 120. these little V3's and 3.1's are amazing speedos.

i'm also running -55 on my expo to smooth out the tremendous rip on the bottom end.

The longer bottom guide is compatible with all shocks. The new upper guide is compatible with newer shock bodies and you can drill the old ones if you desire. The original cartridge guides are still included so you don't need to modify anything. As someone already stated, the real improvement is the new lower guide.

This is just part of our ongoing effort to continue improving our products. We won't be sending out new parts, we'd be out of business if we had to send out parts every time we improved something :-).

Are you still running timing with the HD installed? Try a 16 if your indoors and a 17 outdoors with 0 timing and a little current limiting. Seems to be the sweet spot, hottest I've seen is 158 after going a little to long in practice.
