So when going to the LRC brace what does one have to do to the front rear inserts (anti squat) ?

Where's the cheapest place to get a sct410 kit? It's 399.99 at tower hobbies. Also, is there a huge advantage to buying new vs buying a used roller off here?

thanks

Man these trucks are so durable that buying a used one as long as it hasnt been run over by a full sized automobile you should be in good shape. I always ask for pics of the bottom of the chassis especially the rear to see how thin it has gotten from wear.

Currently race stock buggy and mod sct. And i'm considering getting into 4x4 sct, mainly because it looks fun and its popular at my track. Budget is an issue though. Has anyone ever done like a "budget build" for a tekno sct410. It looks like i can get a used roller for $275-$300. I wouldn't need a radio and I have a SP GT 2.0 pro esc to use. I'm mainly looking to kinda get into 4wd for not too much, NOT to have top of line stuff. Here's what I have listed so far and maybe you guys can suggest cheaper alternatives...
Motor - HW xerun 540 4000kv - $85 new
Servo - DS1015 - $50 used (have a hitec 965mg but its only 139oz torque)
Batteries - smc 7200mah 70C - $55 each (have a gens ace 5000mah/40c but prob need a better one)

How many batteries do i need for 2 quals and a main(6 min each).

The Tekno is actually great for this since it needs very few upgrades (aluminum wheel hexes and servo horn) and is also quite durable.

You can probably get away with the esc if you turn everything down, but an sc or 8th scale esc is generally highly recommended. On a budget, get a hobbywing xerun sct combo.

For the servo, I use various ones around 300 oz/in but have also used a spectrum 6030 at 166. There are various turnigy and track star servos that are quite reasonable (30-40 new) with metal gears, around .1 speed, and 200+ oz/in. The protek servo line is also worth a look.

Batteries generally depend on how you run and your charging situation. I use the 7200 SMC packs (most all of mine have several hundred cycles on them now, so they last well), and usually just use 1 pack per vehicle and charge it between heats. But, I run 5 or 6 min races with an hour at minimum before the same class comes up again, and can charge up to 20 amps if I forget (normally around 9 amp charging for me). I would pick up 2 packs if you can. Worst case, you save one as an important race pack if you don't actually need both all the time.

I ran the SP GT2.0 Pro for awhile with the Tekin 4600kv motor, the HW 4000Kv motor and even the Tekin 4300HD motor.

it worked really well with the HW motor, start your DRRS at like 3 is what I did and it really helped.

on the really cheap but still name brand for a used servo, see if you can find an airtronics 94358. Seen those as cheap as like $20. 200oz torque and .10 at 6.0V. You will need a servo extension though. Also confirm dimensions, I don't recall if there is anything funny dimension wise, I doubt it, but confirm non the less.

To get 2* (minimum with LRC block) you have to use a 1 dot offset insert in the down position.

Cool Race Report - NCSOS Final

This past weekend was the last race of the NCSOS (Northern California Southern Oregon Series). The final race was held at RattleSnake Raceway at the fairgrounds just outside Redding, CA and made for a perfect outdoor final event. The weather was good, though slightly unpredictable (a little drizzle, some wind gusts, but overall cool and sunny), and the track had small changes in the dusty surface happening so one needed to adjust their lines slightly throughout the day.

The first round of qualifying didn't go so well for me, with the biggest reason being a mistake in judgement in SC. It was announced that I was in 5th on the next to last lap, so I went for the risky triple on the last lap and got caught in the wind. Turns out I had been in 5th, but all of the top 5 had been within less than a second from each other and we were all swapping spots every lap. Oops. The second round went better for me in both classes, putting me 2nd on the grid in SC and in the front half for eBuggy.

The double a mains saw some good racing and several close battles throughout the field of competition. I ended up putting the SCT410 into 2nd for the event, and the EB48 into 3rd for the event. This defended my 2nd for the overall series in 4wd SC, with my wife coming in 5th overall for the series with her SCT410. I didn't place with the EB48 for the series though, due to electronics gremlins (likely due to heat) giving me a DNF for round 2 and not having any drops.

I would like to thank Tekno for the amazingly durable and competitive vehicles that are easy to tune and drive, RattleSnake Raceway for hosting a great final event, SMC for the great batteries and SC motor, my wife for supporting my love of this hobby, the Lord for giving me the health and means to race, and NorCal Hobbies as my home track for always having a great place to race and practice at.
