Hi, I have a stock traxxas slash vxl with the stock gearing 23/86 but I was wondering if I changed the gears too 14/54 would my motor overheat? Also if I changed it to 14/54 will I lose some top-end? I was going to use these gears on ashphalt and on my local track. I have already lost 1 ESC to heat and I don't really want to lose another.
Thanks

Assuming this is the 2wd slash that spur will not fit on it. It is designed for an E-Maxx. If you want the highest speed with a 3s lipo go with 31/76. That is Traxxas' recommended gearing for top speed. This is the gear I mentioned.

A simple way to find out if the new spur/pinion will be similar is to divide the spur by the pinion. Doing this your new gearing combination will be similar. When I had my slash I think I ran 14/56. I used my slash for track driving though. The spur you want is for the Jato.
