Default Traxxas slash 2wd gears??

Hi, I have a stock traxxas slash vxl with the stock gearing 23/86 but I was wondering if I changed the gears too 14/54 would my motor overheat? Also if I changed it to 14/54 will I lose some top-end? I was going to use these gears on ashphalt and on my local track. I have already lost 1 ESC to heat and I don't really want to lose another.
Thanks

Any body? Will the 2 above give me roughly the same top end as 28/86? Also do you think the the motor would overheat with 18/56 on dirt?

To get the same sorta speed but with cool temperatures I should run 13/56 with a 3s? Will that give me the same speed as 23-28/86 with a 7 cell nimh?

Assuming this is the 2wd slash that spur will not fit on it. It is designed for an E-Maxx. If you want the highest speed with a 3s lipo go with 31/76. That is Traxxas' recommended gearing for top speed. This is the gear I mentioned.

The spur does fit I just can't put the covers on the gears. But I'm think 11t pinion for 3s and 16t for 7 cell nimh. Would 16t be the highest I could go without my motor overheating?

Ok let me rephrase my whole question do you think my motor would over heat with 16/56? Also would I get the same top speed as 23/86? I'm going to use these gears with a 2s and 7 cell nimh.

A simple way to find out if the new spur/pinion will be similar is to divide the spur by the pinion. Doing this your new gearing combination will be similar. When I had my slash I think I ran 14/56. I used my slash for track driving though. The spur you want is for the Jato.

Anybody? I think I will stay with 48p because I know it a little better. Just one other question is their any peformance upgrade with 36p or is it only durability?
