This thrust kit is better than the MIP ones:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Trinity-1-1...item2eff017d56

You may consider replacing the diff halves as well.
Out drives:
L & R.

I wear out the right one first!

I've always set my slipper by "feel." I'd set it it flush then drive around the track and adjust from there.
I would guess the general setting is the same on all but like you said you drive to final tune. The final tune will end up and different points id assume. Ive never got that technical into. I used to run a gear diff and on my low traction track after trying a ball diff I dont know why I wasted so much time trying a gear diff. Well yes I do know why, it was because I was intimidated by the build of a ball diff and setting. After rebuilding once and running it becomes very easy all the way around.

Thanks for the videos. I believe its time I rebuild mine. I'm wondering however what does the truck do on track that tell you that its time for a rebuild?

If rear traction is being WEIRD and inconsistent. (2WD)
Massive over steer for no reason.
If the differential feels CRUNCHY when you hold one rear wheel and turn the other.
It should be as smooth as glass with minimal crunchiness.
Gear diffs are what comes in a ready to rebuild car or truck.
They are minimal maintenance, but heavy. Ball diffs are race car stuff.
i have a few ready to go,when I need one for my OLD T-4.
I'm getting better at it.

Thanks, I knew about how to tell when off the track since this is about the only thing I see people comment about. I just wanted to know what it felt like while driving. Mine has been crunchy for a long time. I have seen the massive oversteer you mention. I'd be putting down 3-4 nice laps then in some random turn it will just snap around even though I'm still in the groove.

I have seized a bearing in the out drives B-4. That will cause weird stuff to happen, too.
The diff balls are very hard. The rings are softer. I have lots of diff rings.I re-use the balls, when cleaned.

I have a few more questions.

1. How can you tell if the diff is loose in the truck? I just rebuilt my diff and want to come in after a few laps putting around the track and check it. I'm just not sure how to tell without taking it back out. (I know how to tighten in the truck but dont want to unless its needed)
2. What will dirty/gritty thrust balls make the truck do on the track if anything?
3. Which side should the thrust nut be? Driver side or passenger? This is a Kyosho truck and the manual doesn't really show/say (at least Im not seeing it if it does).

Thanks

**edit**
I've answered 1 and 3 myself by reading a document by losi on building a diff. Still would like to know how critical #2 is on the track.

Wow, really thurrough and well made tutorials. Good to know that there is such a thing, I don't think I have a ball bearing, but just a cog diff.
