I'd really like to order the clutch basket setup, but I'm hesitant with the cover not fitting. How has everyone been modding their covers?

Only the HV series 550 Novak motors require the chassis to be clearanced. The Ballistics have a different endbell with a "notch" that clears without any modification. Changing the motor will require some disassembley.

I'll post a picture later.

The cover does not rub much. I heated mine up a bit with my heat gun and set it over a small round container and push down on it a few times to stretch it out just a little. It takes a bit of heat from the heat gun to do this but within 10-15 minutes I had no rub. You will not regret this upgrade! It is the best change I have made to the truck!

I just broke down and placed the order for the clutch basket. The pictures look like 3 HD pads are used. Is this best practice?

Mac, beggers can't be choosers with free shipping but I'd appreciate it if you could get it out ASAP. I'm hoping to get it installed before Bring the Heat.

I ordered mine on a monday and had it by Wed. so he ships fast. I like running the standard front drive pad and then two HD pads. I have not played with anything else but I like the way the truck drives and the pull it has off the corners is just silly fast!

Do you need to order any other parts to get the clutch basket setup to work or basically what came with your kit will be sufficient?

You will need a 3rd slipper pad.

Just curious, but have you been running it long enough to notice longer pad life or is it around the same.

Trying to figure cost savings, mod over stock setup. You can buy 6 sets of slipper pads for that...

This is a great question and I have to say that remains to be answered but what I will say is my pads when I check them do not glaz nearly as fast. I got an entire weekend of racing out of them and they are still not slipping as I would have to sand them after my quals to run the main previously. Also the biggest advantage to me is that I used to have to run my slipper spring almost completely locked down to get the drive off the corner and now I don't have the spring as compressed but the truck pulls off the corner better than it ever has. Also, my overall slipper temps have been lower.

I have no affilation with the maker of this upgrade either as I am only a consumer and these are my thoughts on the upgrade. I would never go back to the standard slipper after running it.

...and that's exactly why I was asking you.

Thanks.

Does the additional slipper pad send more power equally to the front and rear? Is it more of a front bias. I have not torn into my kit yet so i'm not sure how this "decoupled" slipper acts.

if your speaking about the factory kit. it is designed to be equally.
If your speaking of the custom basket it seems to be rear bias'd

Default Decoupled Slipper and Clutch Basket...

The standard Decoupled slipper what I have found is that the rear drive needs a much heavier load and causes the entire slipper to heat up and glaze both front and rear drive pads.

Once you install teh clutch basket now the rear has the drive it needs and I have found it helps the front drive last longer as well because of the less heat and overall slip.

You guys with the basket using regular slipper pads or HD pads. I just ordered one. Also will the gear cover from the B4/T4 fit without heating.
