SC10 4x4 Thread

For the sc104x4 I have seen many people using different weights for their diff fluid and I would like to know what the reason for this is. Even on the associated site there are setups ranging from front to rear 30000-5000, 7000-5000, 5000-5000. Why are there so many options for similar style tracks with different drivers? I'm about to rebuild my diffs and would like to hear some input from you guys. Thanks.

It depends what your traction is like.

+1
When you use a VTS slipper or other similar setup, it was quite common for guys to run higher diff fluids up front, etc.
With an RC Shox Center diff it wasn't uncommon to see "square" setups, same diff fluid front and rear.
For me personally, I pretty much settled on 7K front, 5K rear for all instances. It fit my driving style, and getting to the diffs to change them was too much of an adventure to really play with it alot.

Thanx, I have been testing the limits of what i can get away with! The spur now fits snug on the top shaft so gear wobble is minimal, the dif feels a little bit different and i think it is because of the gear material but feels good. Now i just have to source out pinions and gather all of the new hardware as well as get the thrust bearings in house.

Some other info, Over the past year i have been making mod1 spur gears for on road 1/8 scale nitro. I finally pretty much perfected the tooth profile and the spurs literally never go bad and if any of you run GT you know what i am talking about! You have to have the mesh gap very small and actually touch in order to make a hour long main. I adapted this profile to the SC10 so its much easier to set your mesh and forget about it, another side effect to this is that it is very quiet relative to normal MOd1 profile. so instead of setting your gap to the insides of the teeth you set it to the bottom, in between the teeth which is rounded.

Dang Marcus! That thing is hot! Question, I see vented slipper discs (?). Are those included? If not, aside from the c-diff kit what else is needed to complete the conversion?

Its just like the V2 as far as the kit goes, you can either purchase a complete kit or an upgrade kit if you already have the V2. the slipper hub is not included. Pre-order ends in a week check out the site for details, i suggest pre-ordering they are made in batches of 40 and i am almost at that now with a week to go.

Is converting to saddle packs worth it?
I ordered the cradle for an RC10 Gold Pan restore but I have decided to go another route.
What are the advantages to it? The only disadvantage that I see is I need to now get saddle packs and a multi battery charger.

Hey Marcus, Can you include a note in your future Center Diff kits saying to go to "X" location on the site for instructions? That may be helpful for those not used to looking where its posted.
For the saddle packs, I felt it helped balance the car better in my opinion.

There is a link on the item descriptuon already that goes directly to it. Paper links dont work all that well, one wrong letter and you will never find it!

Need some pinion gear help. I'm running a MMP with a Tekin SC4X 4.5 turn motor. I have the 62t 32p spur, what pinion should I start out with?
