Under power, adding pins should be similiar to increasing diff fluid weight in a fluid filled diff.

However, since the "lock-up" action in the RC Shox diff with pins should be proportional to the torque on the spur gear, it's a little different then a simple fluid filled diff.

Also, under braking shouldn't the RC Shox diff always be very free???

Last season I was running my RC Shox diff without any pins and really liked the effect on the truck on our 1/8 low traction/rough outdoor track.

Yes but not anything like a slipper

Yes like i explained , under braking you have bias where as with a slipper you do not

On a loose track no pins is great but as the grip comes up you need at least 4 pins IMO.

Heck, outside of some requirement by ROAR or some other organization, I am still waiting for the "unbeatable" slipper setups to be used in 1/8 scale buggy. I mean, if its so good in comparison to a diff setup, why not right?

Hey, curious on this, has anyone tried the vehicle with even stiffer swaybars than what AE offers?

Perfect example of why I upload to photo bucket and paste the image code into my post. Works great! The file size limitations blow on this forum. IMO.

I've been wondering what you all think about the sc104x4 and how much loneger it will be relavent in the racing sene. Also when do you think associated will release a update or the 2.0 of this kit?It has been year and a half since the FT came out(i think).
Thanks John

I believe it is still very relevant and a very capable vehicle. In my opinion and others, it mainly needs work to handle large 1/8 blown out big jump tracks so you are not having to scrub time by singling jumps that the other trucks can triple with ease. As some have reported here, having to use this alternate jumping method can cost you significant time.

As for any further updates, I am hopeful that AE will revisit the platform and make improvements similar to the RC10B4. There are a few I know I would like to see.

All of this though will really be dependent on where AE sees the class going and what level they feel they should be invested in the class.

4tec

be care full when someone here with a unquantifiable opinion tell you the truck has issues outdoors.

Last year here in the N/w the Sc10 won
most of the larger outdoor events .

So if they tell you it has issues outdoors ?
Its all
bull ...

If it means anything, our local store/track took all the SC10 4X4 parts off the walls and stuck them into buckets. Everytime you need a parts you have to dig through the buckets. He said nobody is running them in the races anymore so the filled the spot with SC8 parts since it's outdoor track time.

I still really like driving mine. Sure my Tekno is faster but the Sc10 is so smooth and quiet.

4tec, search the thread and see what people who have actually used the vehicles in the conditions described have experienced.

You may find that what is on WC's face concerning the subject isn't egg ...
