On another note, how about some actual tech on the RCTech Sc10 4x4 thread?

I decided to convert to big bore springs. Here's how you can too.

You will need this Kyosho parts tree:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...hock-End-Set-4

Detailed instructions:

Snip off the bucket and the top adaptor washer thing, it slips right over the ride height adjuster like its supposed to be there. Remove old spring buckets and springs. Install new parts. Go have a soda. Your done.

Other than the spring rates which were a flat out wild guess (I ordered Hot Bodies 60mm white F and Losi 2.3" green R, they feel pretty close on the bench but I haven't been able to measure them yet), this flat works. The buckets are a slight bit loose on the AE spring eyes, but they are so far on them I'm not worried about losing them. Plus they are solid and will never break. And the springs don't drag the shock bodies anymore.

Truth be told, I got lucky when I guessed at something that I thought would work (the part numbers), and it did. Hopefully I'll get to go practice or race here this weekend.

don't really need for outdoor, although if you do use suggest lower the inside camber stud to 5mm or less...
Just an FYI to the OP, found I gained traction with the +8mm mod.

Best bet, try it yourself and see. The main thing that I see that controlled how much bite I had in the rear was the height of the inner ball stud by the tower. Raising this up freed the rear end up, lowering it, more grip.

the output hub position seemed on face value to give more traction.

Just what I saw on a loose track.

this is what on theory we got for weights (lbs-in) for the HB springs, I am assuming you are using the 60mm ones?

Gray 4.14
White 4.54
Blue 4.98
Orange 5.49

Yes.

I'm certain the Hot Bodies are consistant with each other for their stated rates. What I'm not certain of is what those numbers mean in AE rates and against AE springs. For example, I'm not certain if HB White is stiffer or softer than AE Blue fronts.

FWIW, I would of ordered grays, but they were on backorder.

Lol. not surprised personally, its a popular spring right now for the Tekno vehicles.

My numbers are just conversions of the gf ratings that HB uses. from usage comparison as I do use the AE fronts on my sct410, the AE rates I have used feel right in comparison to the HB counterparts.

I wish I had that old school integy spring dyno, if it would fit, could find out for sure.

I usto have a hb ve8.. I used the grey in front and white in rear for what it's worth the car was about 6.5 lbs I remember. The car came with white front and grey rear and everybody swapped them. I think I would go grey too. Those springs are good! And there short too

Bought the new diff kit associated put out.. Kit was terrible. Gears aren't meshing, the cross pins were miscut, and case doesn't close properly.. Gotta love quality control right? In other news, got my Exotek Chassis today. Can't drive it though because of horrible diff kit mentioned above -_-x.

+1 . Maybe he was looking for some tweener rate? the AE spring kit jumps from 4.3 blues to 4.9 yellows, sc10 4x4 springs. If so, he could use 16mm Blue 4.65 or 16mm Bronze 4.7 .

Assuming the values hold, Hot bodies 60mm whites or 68 mm reds would offer a 4.54 rate for anyone curious.

I am using the 8mm mod outdoors with only 4mm of inner ball stud washers and it works pretty good on medium to low traction surfaces. I am planning to keep this set-up for high bite tight tracks.
