Diff fluids get changed after every 3rd time I use the vehicle. I change my shock oil after every 2nd time I use the vehicle.

It does look like alot of work at first... but once you've done it, it's quite easy.

Here's a guide CoyoteSlash made back from page 707 of this thread Nov 9th 2011.

You may try this and call me crazy, but once you can easily pop on and off those CVAs. This is literally a 5 minute diff removal. And you don't have parts strung out all over. Only 4 pieces. or "chunks" I should say. Lemme know if you guys have questions.

I got lazy and didn't want to do a video. Mostly because I have no one to hold the Cellphone Camera.

To be honest, For bang for the buck I would get the Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro ESC as its like $90 right now from Speed Passion direct, brand new.

Then, buy whatever motor you want from tower. Usually the membership codes work best around the 150 mark, and the 300 mark. You get the most percentage discount and free shipping from what I recall.

The ESC I recommend is what I ran in my SC10 4x4 with the 4000Kv Pro4 motor. It also works well for 550 2 Pole motors. If you want the Reventon Pro from Speed Passion, it does NOT work with 4 Pole motors.

The RX8 from Tekin is a great ESC however, no doubt. I am also curious about that new Viper RC ESC that is about the same price but has a longer warranty, 1 year.

Gimme a sec I'll find the post.
What pads are being used? Stock? Secret?

And WC, the extra pad helped a bit, thank you. I'm using all VTS pads by the way.

A few small improvements adds up though ....

koolest part of this class is the reward in finding something that helps racing the Sc 4x4 even more fun....

I recently picked up one of these used that came with a 5.5 motor and was wondering what you think would be the minimum battery I should use for club racing? I was looking at 5000 40/80c but also considering either 6500 60/120c or a 5600 70/140c. I'm not a pro by ant means but race to have a good time while I'm trying to be competive if you know what I mean.

Also I have been reading about using 3-4 pads is this on the slipper? I seem to have the slipper pretty tight or it seems to slip and heat up the motor. Is this where adding the extra pads helps?

Thanks for the help and I'll probably have more questions as I get more serious about this truck.

are you using saddle packs or sticks?

I would say go with whatever you budget allows, higher C rating the better. Promatch racing is stocking IP lipos now, and include warranties. I just picked up some sticks, 7200mah 80C lipos from them for $70 each.

As for the pads, I am assuming you have a VTS Slipper or clutch basket setup? If so, I would think your slipper action should be a bit better than what you are describing. If its the dual pad non VTS style setup, It woudl be worth looking into at least garodiscs or a clutch basket style setup.

From what I saw of someone with a RTR version, it has good controllable power. It needs the swaybars, chassis brace, and either the VTS slipper or the RC Shox garodiscs. Some places are selling the RTR version with the upgrade kit for free.
Thanks Cain. I am sure this info is buried in the over 2000 pages, so I appreciate you giving this info. Nice to know some places are offering upgrade kit.

The items listed are the RC vehicles I have now. I also have some older RC planes but got away from flying when I got into RC cars and trucks, lots of fun and less repair. I am fortunate to have 120 foot by 90 foot RC dirt track in the back yard and drive shed with 40 ft by 35 ft carpet indoor track. We mainly run Short course outdoor, still some xxx4 and indoor we run BRP and Micro RS4. Hard to get parts for RS4 but we are going to run them until we are all broken.

Thanks again for advice.

welcome to the thread

Yes

4 pads perform a lot better then 2 or 3 pads ....
Motor durability is improved & runs cooler too...

Using pads that don't work or are glazed & sticking make for many mistakes on the track...
