WC: Are stock AE rc8 springs too long? I got my 2 sets, half assembled 'em to make sure they were complete...springs just seem like they will be long once I add all the internal limiting to the fronts...hope to have 'em on and ready to test with by the end of the weekend.
Keep up the good work!!

Only the Ae Sc8 BLACK front springs fit the rear.

None of the Sc8 springs fit the Front shocks ....

And the other color Sc8 Front springs are too long for the rear .....

I have been using the Losi 15mm front springs because they are short enough for front or back ....

go by my limiter suggestions I gave , they are really close & fit well .

Cain , how fast now ?

just a tad faster, lap times showed a big improvement from 1st try and I'm not even close yet with the 2nd try..

More refinement needed...

I've seen 16mm ofna springs online, in case you (we?) need more options.
I was gonna run to my lhs tomorrow and see what my spring options are...

Maddy , the rear green ft 15mm losi is a keeper ..

The next change I'm sure will be the ft springs as we still have too much steering ...

When I ran 24mm ride height the silver ft were good .

But I lowered truck for the main(20mm) and blew out due to making too big of change .

Scott is my helper , I don't give much weight to the backward advisers

^interesting, maybe the shorties will work.

WC, stiffer rear than front? Seems weird, maybe soften the rears to keep it more planted, see if it makes the front feel a little deader?

Too be expected as I only made a good guess with the first try .

Tonight I made the changes below....
ran a pack with the new changes tonight..

Lap times show a significant improvement compared to the first try .

Finding a good spring combination is proving to be the most difficult task at this point of the project ..

Front
Ae 16mm X 29mm Sc8 shock body
29mm shock shaft
Internal Limiter = 11mm

External limiter = 0

Ae 45W oil

Losi 15mm 2.3" x 4.4 ( silver) front spring

Rear

Ae 16mm X 29mm Sc8 shock body
29mm shock shaft

Internal limiter = 3mm
external limiter = 3mm

Ae 40w oil

Losi 15mm 2.3 X 5.3 (green) front spring

I was looking at Losi springs on amain, and I notced an error up there^
Your rear spring rate is off...just a heads up as you test...not trying to be a d*ck...

info taken from Amain, all are 2.3 length

LOSA5450 red 4.1
LOSA5451 silver 4.4
LOSA5452 green 4.7
LOSA5453 black 5.0
LOSA5454 white 5.3
LOSA5455 gray 5.6

carry on!

Win 4 of 4 tonight.

It's going to be hilarious being DESTROYED in the NW Showdown after this streak.

I'm looking forward to being stomped, to be 100% honest.

Anyone have a good ESC setup for a HW 120a V 2.1 Black running a 5.5?

Friend of mine loaned me his SC104x4 and I want to update the ESC with settings. He's been limited to the std. box. I have the HW digi box and used the software to adjust settings in my HW, and want to do the same for his.

What software do people recommend and how should I gear a 540 5.5 Venom motor?

Default Exotech Chassis

Hi guys, I'm still busy reading the entire thread from the start, I am currently on page 1346 so more than halfway home

I have a quick question I have the chance to buy a used exotech chassis for $70 its the Exotek LCG Chassis (version 2) is this a good deal as I thought I read you can buy them new for $99? My only hesitation about buying it is theres a screw hole that is damaged for the nerf bars.

I didn't drill all the way through the bottom of the chassis, so there isn't any extra holes in it...you could either use a slightly larger screw to mount the nerf bars in that hole or just put a little shoe goo on it and it won't ever be a problem. It's not a big deal at all, I just wanted to call it out beforehand so the buyer wouldn't be surprised when they saw it.
I know alot of guys switch to saddle packs when they get the exotech but I wanted to know is there any issue with swapping over my receiver box, and esc tray to run the stock chassis configuration on the exotech and can I do it with existing hardware without buying anything else?

I haven't caught up with all the new mods yet since I'm still reading so I don't want to start buying a bunch of stuff I might not need. I just read up to the point where everyone is using the front shock springs on the back so I'm glad I didn't buy any springs yet as it seems everyone raves about the fronts in the rear working better, keep in mind I'm in a time bubble for where I'm at reading so I know things could've changed

So far I have purchased
sway bars front/rear
ft hexes
ft shock tower pins
ft cups
RPM arms front/rear
jconcepts locking wheel nuts
jconcepts overtray

heres a list of stuff out there that I might want to get, but feel free to chime in and tell me if any of this isn't really needed

I know mantis makes some good stuff and tests it rigourously before it gets sold So his stuff goes to the top of the wish list. I might want to even send my truck to him like jeffsc10 did to have the Mantis touch

RC Shox garodisc
RC Shox ackerman bar,
RC Shox Center Ball Diff (version 2)
RC Shox 2 Stage Pistons
RC Shox Drill Set

VTS basket or MTK Basket?

Coyote Tech Diff with bearing
Coyote Tech Chassis Brace

STRC Aluminum Rear Hubs
STRC Aluminum Front Caster Block Set
STRC Aluminum Steering Bellcrank System
STRC Aluminum Belt Tensioner Pulleys
STRC Aluminum Front A-Arm Mount
STRC Aluminum Rear Arm Mount (3-2) w/ Delrin inserts
STRC Aluminum Heat Sink Motor Plate

Heres a pic of my progress so far lol
Its not pretty or the best wiring job but its mine

And to end my short story I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's made this thread such a wealth of knowledge but a few of you stood out so if I forgot your name don't take offense please it was not intentional.

Mactheknife the originator
MantisWorx the mad scientist
Cameron Kellogg you put the track hours in I wish I could
CraigMBA bane of noobs and the uninformed and lazy question seeker
Coyote Slash Coyote Tech is a real company to me if I don't get the exotech I will get the coyote tech chassis
symmetricon the least likely to flip shit on dumb ass people
Wild Cherry those stock a arms ever warp yet glad that ryan/ryan setup proved itself
Tbirdjunkie just for speaking in 3rd person
