Man ran my first race this weekend with my SC10 4wd and fought loose conditions all weekend, no matter the adjustments.. Not sure if it was bad tire choice or what I used PL Suburbs, Clay Compound. But I'm running 30k front diff 7k rear diff. 27.5 shock oil all the way around. -2 deg rear camber. I had a few guys say my truck seemed like it was just floating around the track. Did not seem planted at all. I know I need the chassis brace or the Exotek chassis and I need to add some weight.. What y'all think?

try using the brian kinwald setup.. make sure it is exactly the same. down to the "T" , no exceptions. then after you drive it for a while and get the feel then make adjustments. And... make sure you are using same tires as the fast guys at your track.

also maybe check into the MC2 toe blocks or maybe the exotek rear hubs.. you can achieve a 3.5* rear toe which will lock in your rear.
i have heard alot of positive feedback about the mc2 from cain and a few others on this board

For all of those that are looking for a setup sheet for large 8th scale tracks check out Max's setup sheet for the 2011 Psycho Nitro Blast. Huge track that gets rough and a layer of dirt on it. I dug up the results and he broke in main but did real good in qualifying with that setup.

I've also raced against him at our large 1/8 scale track and his 4x4 was dialed in.

I'm going to replicate his setup on mine. I'm starting to get the feel of the truck (was racing 2wd mod) and what needs to be updated. From looking at his setup it looks to be a real good place to start. I stayed off the pipes much better and my best lap times are getting closer to the fastest guys on the track.

I am almost positive he finished first, along with a TQ. I put that set-up on my truck fromthe get go. 1-1/2 oz behind the stick pack configuration, chassis brace, vts slipper, rx8 powering a sc4x 5.5. Best 4wd i have ever driven. Hands down.....

Heh, that set up is very very similar to the one I came up with for my track.

Just finished up a 6 series race, took first out of 40 guys.

Nice find!

I'll have to give that overdrive pully option a look as the linkage positions I tried and spring selection but couldn't get that to work quite well for me at the time, but maybe the stiffness of the swaybars had something to do with it for my track conditions ... worth a look for sure.

Max is definitely a FAST guy, at the TEKIN worlds race on the TILTYARD track here in VA, had gave Ryan Lutz a run for his money.....Excellent Race.....his set-ups are absolutely worth a try if you get the chance...

Hey Guys... I just had a heck of a time rebuilding my truck for the second time. I learned some hard lessons and now can take apart the truck pretty quickly

So my question is, which shims should I have on-hand to shim the diffs? I've read about every size and was curious to what people are using.

Thanks

I just bought a diff rebuild kit that comes with all gears, pins, shims. It was like 14$ and I just used the standard shims and doubled up on the shims on the sun gear. It took all my diff skipping away.!

from what I have read, people are either doing .5mm under the sun gear (removing that shim between the diff and cup) or .4mm under the sun, and I think the same shim removal

Hey guys, just picked up a slightly used SC10 4x4 and was wondering... How far off the pace is the Castle SV2 / 3800 compared to a Tekin RX8 / Pro 4 4000kv setup? Will be running on a smaller 18 second medium bit, indoor clay track.

Thanks!
