It's good to know that i'm not the only one. One crash and the paint shatters off the body, then peels like tape off it from that point on. Frustrating as hell. Worked very hard on painting 'correctly' this time more than others.

Use just a little dish washing soap before and you will not have any peels, runs or flakes...

Most body shells have vegetable oil on the inside so it will release from the mold clean ....

+1 same for me did it all right, wash, scuffed ,washed, wore gloves (unpowdered laytex) painted heat gun , time in between = a very cool paint job. first run kiss the pipes on a fast sweeper = shattered and chipping paint. After first day on track body was looking like it needed to be replaced.

I'm pretty sure i've got painting an RC body down. I'm not the only one with the issue. Any other body i've painted comes out fine for months, this specific body 'twice' now has been an issue.

Yes, I would imagine coyote and a majority of people here know to prep the body before painting. Mot only to remove the mold release agent, but also after you have got that off and you accidentally stuck your finger on the inside getting oils on it.
Yeah, it needs to he prepped, but all the prep in the world did not help my friends flotek.

Are you painting fluorescent colors by any chance?

no , most Team drivers are using the JConcepts or the Pro-line , me too....

If you have flaking issues ?

all due to lack of cleaning the shell before painting

All shells use Lexan

If you what more grip for the paint to hold on ?

*wash shell first with dish washing soap
*buff inside with 000 steel wool
*wash shell again

ready for paint now ...

had Greg Holdap teach me how to air brush & paint ...

No, his was green and white, basic... he did not want to pony up for a mask.

I use the same colors at all times so people know who's passing them (jk)
Sprint white & metallic blue backed with silver. Hiflow. Never had what I've seen on the flotek's in 14 years of driving and painting bodies.

From my first post on this...

Hiflow, I've seen too many flotek's at the track that 50%+ of the paint peeled off including a friends that I helped him paint. Scuffed, prepped and took our time between coats. In 10+ years I've never had a paint job do that, ever.
First proline body I've ever had an issue with. Maybe a bad batch of lexan or something.
