That is definitely overtightened, tighten only until the spring compresses not any more and then back off a half a turn. the noise is caused by the bent shaft. IF you back off the nut it should go back straight. If you back it off and it slips order a new V2 spring, they do get soft over time.

Same advice, back off in half turn increments, the coils should just "kiss" each other, if you end up ordering a new shaft also order a V2 spring.
thanks just re-adjusted it shaft is ok now.

Simple as reading the directions! I think the hardest part was getting the servo aligned up and locked down.

nmdesertracer,

what would be a good steering servo for this truck? i have a savox 1268 but the receiver wire isnt long enough. would a hitec steering servo be a better bet? if i am not mistaken hitec servos have longer receiver wires correct me if i am wrong.

i have a savox 1256 in mine, and i love that it has a wire that is long enough. and its 277 oz-in w/ .15s speed!

as for servos that have a long enough wire i would suggest:

Savox SC-1256TG 277 oz-in w/ .15s speed (cheapest @ $80 on amain)
Hitec HS-7955TG 333 oz.in w/ .15s speed ($119 on amain )

these Titanium gear servos feel very smooth.

the 1268 is a really nice servo, especially if your rx can put out the 7.4v
and if you want to just use your 1268 - servo extension wires are available , jr even sells 3,6,9+ wires...so it matches your savox wires

anyone else running a gtb2 in your sc104x4? been looking around for how people have theirs setup in a short course, and really cant find any info.

the min drive is the main thing im wondering about, i currently have mine set at 6 of 15. is this setting just to setup your truck so the intial throttle input gets the truck going?

Default first race a success.

Hey guys, I finally, after months and months, I raced the darned thing. I have put many laps on this truck since I bought it. I was one of the lucky ones to get the kit very early on. I never raced it due to schedule, but I helped build a new track and club and we opened yesterday. Search "Dirt Devils" in the Florida section of the regional forums for pics, locations and etc, if you are in the south Florida area.

The 4X shortcourse class was the biggest on opening day. That was nice as its pretty fun when there are more than a few shortcourse truck running at once.

Anyhow, on a very dusty and sandy track, my subcultures had no bite. I was sliding all over the place. My result was 4th in the first qualifier. I changed to Panther Boas and won the second qualifier. I placed 2nd in the main. Much better than what I thought I was going to do.

Just a little braggin'. And some thanks. I have followed this thread since its inception. I have asked questions and you all have provided suggestions. So, thank you all.

Ben

I was thinking of use the provided battery wall and drill new holes. Just need to rotate it 90deg.

I would read the very first post of this thread then just take your time.
If you have an issue type it in the search thread box up there ^^^^^ and some one will have asked.
This forum was VERY helpful when I built my truck and I used Marcus setup in the 8th post on the RC Shox thread as my base setup.
Have fun.

Im using a Futaba S9351 love it good centering. My son has a Savox 1258 in his SC10 2wd and man I was impressed with that servo. I actually had to slow it down. Im not a big fan of Hitec two of my oldest boys high $$ hitecs have locked up.

another question,

when looking at saddle pack batteries in a 2 pack does for example 5000 mah is that for each saddle pack battery and i am guessing each of them would be a 1s lipo to combine to make a 2s correct. i am new to this saddle pack setup. sorry for all of the questions.

Typically they would both be 1s (possibly multiple cells in parallel) and 5000mah capacity each (if that is the listed rating). Capacity remains the same when you put cells in series and the voltage increases, the opposite is true when you run multiple cells in parallel.

I think both packs are 2s.
