Gens Ace are fine. I have run about 15*20 packs on mine with no problems.

I run a RX8 with a Tekin Pro4 4600 and Savox servo. No puffing and long run times.

Another member here Rickybobbyxxx runs a Tenshock motor with a rx8 and Gens Ace hold up fine.

Plenty of people run the Gens Ace in b44's and Durango SCT's with no issues either.

I've had bad luck with Turnigy running a stickpack on sc10 2wd. that battery really is a piece of crap. Not only did it puff, but it fell apart.

If I had the $$ I'd go with an Orion or Reedy but I don't have that kind of $$ laying around. (yet)
You really shouldn't comment about other's "experience" you know nothing about.

I deal with gen-ace and other said splinter companies on a daily basis. I also know the ratio in which I deal with said batteries over batteries I sell and will back.

ALSO, I will not support the factories and what they do that your batteries are coming out of.

actually, it will make it even taller than running 14/62.

62 / 12 = 5.16666667
58 / 12 = 4.83333333
62 / 14 = 4.42857143
58 / 14 = 4.14285714

the lower the gear ratio, the faster you will go, slower you will accellerate, and harder you will tax your power system.

most people I know running the 58 or 60T spur are doing so because their motor is too large to move far enough forward to fit the pinion gear that they want to run. (say you want to run 62/16 but can't get the motor far enough forward with the gears on....58/15 is essentially the same gear ratio, with smaller gears, so it will fit easier.)

Only other reason to run the 58 that I know of is if you are trying to kill your motor by doing some maximum speed runs (58/17.....or maybe even be able to fit the RC10GT's 54T spur??)

Talking

General comments aside, we all have our likes and dislikes. Personal experience is the only thing we can share when it comes to Opinions. Remember what they way about Opinions Gentelemen.....They are like A$$holes, everyone has one and they all stink! Sooooooo, what im trying to say is that everyone weighed in on Batteries/Motors/Speedcontrols.......Heres my two cents.

I HATE rainbows (grin).

Just a little light humor.............

+1 I have been running gens ace saddles for over a year and a half and you all know that i run hard and often! out of my7 sets only one has puffed and that was due to a bad charger balancer. I would much rather puff a 28.00 set of batteries than a 125.00 set which i have seen time and time again. I do not always balance them , i dont cycle them and most of the time i run the same pack all day with a pro4 4600 boosted and geared to the moon.....with a Hobbywing 120a/speedpassion software! I have a set of pro-matches too and they are also very good but triple the price.

There are only four Lipo supplier /manufactures in the world and none of them are in america, keep that in mind.

AE drivers like Maifield/Cavalieri run Reedy or Orion only they aren't sponsored by Tekin.

Looking forward to watching these guys run at the Cactus. Wish I could be there.

Hey Shins, Where'd you find those Orion saddles for that price?

Also, I'm about 95% sure all the Associated Factory driver's are running Reedy Sonic's or LRP x12L's.

Using a 5t8 spur with the 12t pinion is like going up a tooth (13t) on the 62t spur. Using a 11t pinion will be very close.
Just try the 12t pinion on the 58t spur but check temps. I use 14/58 or 15/62 w a tek pro4 4000kv

so like I said.
You don't have "experience" running the saddle packs personally...
You run stick packs.
case closed.

Not putting this in your face, or certainly not what I'm trying to do. Mine will be in hand in 12hrs from now when I pick it up from UPS. I didn't sleep well last night and looks like the same again, I'm like a kid a Christmas...sadly a 35yr old kid. Can't wait to start building it tomorrow, wish I had a couple of days to go through the process and enjoy it.

The 540 motor is like 400 watts, the 550 motor is 900 watts (or more).

The truck handles better with the 540, but most tracks have a big double or triple jump right out of a tight corner, and the extra rip makes getting over it a lot easier.

There is a guy I race with who killed a Gens Ace battery in his Durango. It was about six months old.

I, on the other hand, own one battery and charge at 20 amps. With a Thunder 1220 charger.
