I have a 4x4 ordered that I am gonna install a MMP and Tekin Pro4 4000 into. Looking for starting gearing and what pinions and/or spurs I should keep on hand. Thanks for any help.

Default ESC-Motor Combo

I'm considering the Tenshock 411 4000kv and a Hobbywing ESC. What do you think of this combo? Anyone running it? I have read the entire thread, but don't recall if this exact combo was being run. Didn't come up in a search.

Also, suggestion on one of the following Hobbywing ESC's?

I think this is the one Mantis was running.

Not a fan of long motor cans in this truck, unbalances it TOO much. I prefer 540 cans 2 pole or 4

I run 60/15 gearing with 30deg of timing from 8K to 17,200.
I come off at 160F after 8min main.
If you run less timing you can run 62/16.

I suggest you run a Castle BEC to avoid brown outs on the MMP or go with the Tekin RX8.

Are you running a fan on your motor, and what type of track do you race on (small, medium etc)? I have the same motor and highest I've gone was 15 on the timing with the same gearing.........

Hey guys, there was some talk awhile back about putting shims under the sun gears in the diffs to tighten them up.

I never saw an exact size of those shims... Does anyone know what size they are?
thanks

I typically trim the throttle up until the truck starts to move on it's own then take it a couple of notches down so that the motor balances out the drivetrain drag. I do this mostly to keep the truck level over jumps instead of having to feather the throttle since I've gotten used to powering up to the jump then letting off at the base and coasting over.

I have that setup and run 15/62 gearing on smartsense mode with the second highest sensorless boost setting. I can run a full 15min battery on the track and ESC temps are around 110 and motor around 130

I could push it harder, but it has all the torque and speed I can make use of.

Have you verified the esc settings, that doesn't sound right at all.

Sounds like a Tx Esc calibration issue

ordered my saddles from Gens Ace, they had them shipped within an hour or tow it seems. I checked the tracking and even though I specified ground, they already made it from California to Jax, Fl already. The estimated delivery date is next week which means they are sitting in a warehouse. It would be sweet if I get them tomorrow. I could possibly test Saturday and go racing Sunday.
