Would you recommend I just use a hobby knife?...

I imagine perfection is not a necessity.
I turn the tire inside out and use a small, sharp pair of straight scissors. Some people like to use curved lexan scissors for this, just personal preferance, either gets it done. It doesn't have to be perfect, and if you cut too far into the bead you can just back up, straighten out and continue. It will get fixed when you glue up the tire. If the bead is too short and thick to trim (some Losi fronts are like this) just trim the corner off.

About to take a dive into the Rb5 wc coming from a 22. What necessary hop ups or changes should I make to the car coming out of the box?

I would build the car with UM511 shock tower from the SP2 car. If you are on a smooth med to high traction track, also add 2mm internal limiters to the front shocks with the 511 tower.

the car is very tough stock. However if you feel like adding hop ups, I would in this order:
Kyosho aluminum sevo horn
steel or alu hollow balls for the shock ends
Aluminum suspension mounts
Aluminum rear hubs

Confirm, very tough even in normal SP2 mode. Back to RC recently and still flipping quite a bit. I've broken twice: (1) front shot cap (keep some extras), and (2) rear suspension mount (camber link). In the latter case, I was upside down, off the track when a short course driver also hit the tipple wrong and landed right on me.

check radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=260988

I think these will fit. Says RB5, fit sp2?

Quick question on the factory RB5 ballcups.. are they the same cup size as the classic RPM ones? Trying to figure out if I need to buy RB5 specific ball stud size from lunsford... or if I already have them.

i put these on my wc the other day

http://www.lunsfordracing.com/mm5/me...CARS-KYULRB5WC

i had a heck of a time threading the kyosho ball cups onto the rods, i ended up using the ball cups that were in the lunsford bag
