Boy was my car a mess !!
Most servos you can get replacement gears for, some servos lke airtronics that claim "metal gear" still have one plastic gear that can strip/wear, good part is its $5. I went through 2 of those front hinge braces when the car was new and I endo'd too much. Seems like some people I have talked too don't like the way the car feels even though times are about the same, I imagine setups need some tweaking for the "winter" track.

What tires are you guys running at LIR now that the weather has gotten a bit colder? I was running pink tapers yesterday and liked them better then the BK bars I was running.

That is what I figured. The car felt better on tapers yesterday. I switched before the last round of qualifying and the main.

Lightbulb Rear Hub Adjustments.

I would like to know what the rear hub vertical positioning does for your setup. There are three positions Up, Middle, and Down. I am running in the up position, which I believe is the standard position.

Also, what is the difference between the 1 degree hub (LA244-0) and the 0.5 degree hub (LA244-05)? What does the use of the 0.5 degree hub do for your setup?

Thanks.

Raising and lowering the hub effects the roll center of the car. The upper holes will lower the rear roll center and the lower holes will raise the rear roll center.

Higher rear roll will increase on-power traction, decrease traction under breaking and decrease traction rolling entering corners.

Lower roll center decreases rear traction but will help reduce mid-corner and exit traction rolling.

The best advice since this is a very easy change to make is move the hinge pin and see what it does for you track conditions.

The stock hubs are zero offset. The .5 deg hubs will add .5 deg of toe in. This will lock in the rear of the car a little more and should be used in low traction conditions where you need more straight line traction. More toe in will lock in the rear end more but will scrub a little speed off the car.

I tried the 0.5 rear hubs on our loose outdoor track and thought they were pretty good. Added a bit more stability. Top end speed wasn't an issue as I was running a pretty hot motor anyways

However at a recent smaller indoor track, I found that it increased the push of the front end, so I went back to the 0 degree hubs. It's a decent tuning aid though if you race on a variety of surfaces.

Another notch on the win belt for the RB5. Duked it out at the Canadian Hobby Show Championships with some Losi and A/E sponsored drivers and other fast locals from Ontario and Western New York. TQ'd and took the A Main win. This car is so easy to drive aggressive and the Orion LiPo/Brushless combo is awesome!

Some videos of the racing action if you are bored: http://www.sidsraceway.com/results.htm

Pretty fun little layout for a temporary track.
