I finally had a chance to make a run out to Palm Desert Raceway last night. Although I don't think they were "officially" open for practice, I had the chance to run on the track, and check out the facility. I was quit impressed! They have done a great job out there! All new pit tables w/lighting, wash station, and a lot of little details that will work out great for them. The layout was a lot of fun also. Traction is great, with the soil treatment they apply to keep the track together, but is a little tough on tires. Just something to remember when you go out there.

If you have a chance, definitely make a run out the to check it out!

Great job Chris! Keep it up guys! See you all for the Toys for Tots, if not sooner!

Yes the track is hard on tires, but just about any tire will work, from Holeshots to RTR tires until they are bald. My suggestion is to bring all your old tires and they will work fine.

Picture of the facility as of Friday 11/19.

Default Toys 4 Tots

The 6th Annual Toys for Tots Held this year where it all started at Palm Desert R/C Raceway kicked off the morning bright and early with 111 entries in the book.

Festivities kicked off with the Marines from 29 Palms Marine Base and Local Boy Scout Troup 377 doing a presentation of Colors. Melissa Tucker another local singer blew everyone away with her National Anthem. With Jimmy Babcock at the helm, qualifying went off without a hitch. One unique thing was in the 12 and under class. The parents of the drivers did the actual turn marshalling for their own kids. Up and coming Ryan Pavidis was out showing the Old Man how it’s done. 11 classes made up the day all together. Everything from Short Course to 1/8th Electric to 1/8th Nitro, there was something for everyone. We even had a 40+ class which got deemed the Masters Class.

Many of the top drivers were in attendance supporting a great charity; Adam & Rhonda Drake, Brent Fiege, Dylan Rodriguez, Mark Pavidis, Barry Baker, Jessie Robinson, Daniel Adams, Gerardo Gonzales, Tim Long, and Adi Hyttenberg just to name a few.

Some notable top qualifiers were:
1/8th Truggy Pro Adam Drake
Short Course Pro 2wd Kevin Gahan
Short Course Pro 4wd Jerry Blodgett
1/8th electric Dylan Rodriguez
1/8th Buggy Pro Dylan Rodriquez

Right after qualifying finished a great raffle with product donated by the many sponsors ensued. Special Thanks to: Proline Racing, Team Losi, Horizon Hobbies, Jammin Products, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Uncle Don’s Hobbies, TKO, Upgrade RC, Team Associated, Dialed RC Inc., Castle Creations, Jacobsson Construction, Rugspin Graphix.
