Default Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Series 2006

An Introduction to the Tamiya World Cup

Dear Sir,

After an extended absence from Malaysia, Tamiya and the Tamiya Asia Cup series will be making its re-entry and debut in the market. The Tamiya Asia Cup is the gateway to the Tamiya World Cup held every year in Shizuoka Japan at the beginning of winter. It is a prestigious event that brings champions from around the world to compete against one another in fair competition of various classes. Former champions include 2002 IFMAR World Champion Surikarn and current IFMAR World Champion Marc Rheinard.

The spirit of fair competition is the embodiment of the Tamiya Cup series. All rules and regulations have been carefully thought out to ensure that no one individual has an unfair advantage over another. As such a clear copy of all the rules and regulations of the various classes are hereby attached.

In its debut year, Stargek will run a 5 leg race and will be providing the overall first place finishers of each class a ticket to the Tamiya Asia Cup Finals, held this year in Bangkok Thailand. The Ticket also includes lodging. 1st and 2nd runner up will be eligible to go based on cost borned by themselves. There will also be many attractive prizes, including car kits, for each round of the series to be given away.

We are looking to promote the hobby and racing in a fun and cost effective manner. We strongly believe that the rules created for the Tamiya Series race will be able to provide even equipment that shall result in the skills of the drivers being the deciding factor.

In summary, have fun and happy racing. We look forward to have the winners carry the country colours and do us proud in the regional finals in Thailand.

In Best Regards I Remain

Ong Chee Yong

Chee Yong....I know how to identify them too. Not that I'm trying to be funny. Perhaps I've not been clear with my question with apology. Actually what I meant was "....are other brand's Ti screws allowed". Anyway.....no need to reply this. I got the answer between the line already. .............so, do you have Tamiya Ti screws in stock ?? How muchie ? ...............

Tornado,

You got it right on sir. I only have aluminium screws (blue) in stock now. Will be more complete when the showroom is up. However, i can always order for you.

jonest,

The actual TAC checks on everything! right down to the screws n even O-rings! I was just as surprised as you are when I was at the TAC Singapore this year. So, its better to be strict on the rules right from the beginning. Cos we intend to bring the actual TAC to Malaysia soon. We need to be ready by then.

Cheers

Yup, it's real strict in the AsiaCup and of course the worlds.

Once a driver modified his TL01 (cut off an unused plastic part to lighten up the car), officials told him that would disqualify him unless he stick the part back.

In TAC, all parts, tires & inserts must be made of by Tamiya, as it would induce a fair competition among all racers. Of which I don't see us having problem in it.

HappyRacing

Thanks

Awesome news! Married racers would be pleased...can bring wife along for shopping while hubbies at the track playing rc!

any idea as to the controlled battery to be used during the TAC? Is it gonna be 3600, 3800 or the whopping 4200?

in what form? stick pack or loose cells (to be assembled)? one last question (i have read the RnR for the TAC but unsure). can we choose our own body shell or must we use the ones specified by Tamiya?

thank you.

Hi All,

Thanks for your interest in Tamiya products. Most of the hobby shops do carry Tamiya products. If you do have any queries, pls do feel free to post them here and i believe many would be able to assist.

Update on the batteries:-

IB3800s stick pack which carries the Tamiya/Stargek stickers only are allowed. Connectors must not be changed. The Tamiya/Stargek n security sticker MUST not be tampered with. Only this battery pack is eligible for all 3 categories. Stocks will be available very soon, pls kindly check with your LHS.

Cheers.
