Default Just to let ya know...

To all the guys who I've talking to (emails)...I will be at OC Circuit (La Mirada) this Sunday- Mothers Day... I'll have your "SuperCoolers". I'll be there early and may need to leave early (by 3:30).

If anyone else needs a "SuperCooler" before Reedy, this may be my last race for a few weeks. I'll be going to Japan for a week (to meet w/Tamiya) then on to Europe to meet w/ a few other company's.
Just let me know and I'll bring a few extras. See ya there!

Thanks, Jeff -- Team Pharriswheel

Man Jeff. Sounds like these things are really getting successful. Traveling all over to meet with companies about them. That's awesome. Good for you. I'll see ya at the track some time.

I use it on my Tamiya 415, which is very similar layout to the XrayFK05--I'll be at a local race tomorrow and see if someone has a new Xray so I can try it out. I'll let ya know.

we've been using these TEC's for ages in PC watercooling rigs, but you just cant beat liquid nitrogen for cooling

Yes
I was using mine for the Yokomo BD and my buddy who was also racing another class asked to try it for his FK05 it fit just fine. When you order you tell him the car you are usign it on and he sends the right one.

Jeff, How COOL is that?
Total pun intended.
Nice work, glad to see that your hard work is paying off.
Keep it up.
Glad I got me a PharisWheel original, before Tamiya or Xray slaps there name and extra big price tag on it....
I'm not hatin' but I know how business works....Business Major...LOL Like I'll use it...
Anyhow Take Care and GOD Bless

I was thinking.........if you use this out doors then the air temp would surley be higher than the supercooler, this would naturally create condensation on the cold motor, that means a wet motor. Do you have to blow it out with an air hose and re lube the bushings/bearings each time?

You actually end up with frost on the cooler and a very little amount of condensation on the motor. Not realy much to worry about. When you pull it off, before you turn on the car, just wipe or blow off any moisture. Becareful though not to get it on the ESC.

The experience I have is that you don't really get that much moister and that isn't a problem for motors anyway. You only need to woory about water on your electronics.

Jon you got PM.

An electric motor will run under water.....a little moisture on the surface isn't gonna harm anything.....

The only thing you need to watch with moisture is the ESC.

Wink Peltier cooling

Peltier cooling is only 10 percent efficient, also the weight and
the current draw would be impractible for racing. The best cooling
solution for an electric motor is setting up a carbon tetrachloride
drip over the comm. It was used very successfuly in the slot cars days.
The principle is simple. The ccl4 drips on the comm and evaporates
absorbing heat and dissipating heat off the comm, the same principle as a swamp cooler. The problem is finding ccl4, I think it was band because it is classified as an ozone killer.

If you'd read what this thing is all about it's not something that goes in the car while it's running. You use it to cool the motor almost to a freeze BEFORE your run and take it off right before you hit the track. Read before posting please.

That's absolutely right, pour liquid nitrogen to motor before race and you are the coolest .

Where do you get liquid nitrogen?

Default Back from Japan

Hey all, I'm back from the "Land of the Rising Sun". WOW! What an experiance. Had some meetings with 2 "Major" manufacturers and was treated to a trip to the Shizuoka Hobby Show. Saw some neat things. New inovations. Great ideas. i.e. shocks without springs, completly adjustable rates using series of opposing magnets. New battery concepts, 5000MAH and no bigger than a disposable lighter! (high voltage)
Anyway, I am not going to Europe afterall and will be at La Mirada this Sunday 5-22 for OC Circuit race. I'll have the last of my "SuperCoolers" there, if anyones interested.
I'll answer all the emails asap, but I need some sleep right now!
Thanks, Jeff -- Team Pharriswheel

Default Thanks to everyone!

Just want to say thanks to ya'll that have purchased my "SuperCooler" & "SuperCoolerX" over the past few years. It's been "fun"!
Having sold over 700 units worldwide, it has been an experience.
Recently I sold my patent rights (all 16 of them) to a "major" manufacture and I am no longer making them (although I still have a few left to get rid of, Email if interested).

There have been a few folks who have made and sold similar units and it was never my intention to pursue legal action for patent infringment (although my attorney thought I should), because it is, and will always be a "hobby" for me. But I no longer control that, Sooo...Please be careful if your going to market Peltier based electric motor coolers. Good luck!

Default something extra!

Hey Guys, It seems as though there are company's coming out with all different kind of "peltier" based thermoelectric motor coolers, but I dont see anybody "stretching the envelope" on R&D.
Come on guys, if you can build a top of the line touring car (and maintain it) you should be able to build a motor cooler!
Here are some of my prototypes that I had R&D'd building my Team Pharriswheel "SuperCooler"
The first one is the one I still use at races. It has a high CFM fan (adjustable) and 3 peltiers stacked. It is good for about a 90* temp differential- 100* air temp 10* motor.
The second is for "bling-bling" with LED lighted fan and Dragon fan cover. I use two peltiers stacked and it good for aprox 75* temp drop.
Lets see what ya can come up with!

I honestly don't see anyone designing anything differently. One being sold at the moment cost close to $100.00 and thats with only 1 peltier element, so anything more would just increase the end price.
