Uhm, the event comes with a motor and battery pack, and I assume an entry fee; just how much $ is this thing? (like I am going to qualify for the finals )

Jeff- All TCS are free, no event fee. Some classes at the Nats require the purchase of a motor and/or (this year) battery pack. Other than that, no charge-O.

Hey Doc,

What do you think, front drive or rear drive.
Which will be the most popular class at TCS events?

Some races, like Novak at Trackside, only allow front drive so I'm guessing that will be most popular.

Steve-
I think it will depend on the track. At Trackside & World of Hobbies, I'd expect the RWD cars to be very popular, same with Memphis- all three tracks had pretty enthusiastic RWD contingents that only in some cases took out their FWD cars. As you know RWD can be faster than FWD at Trackside, anyway. And with a 21 tooth pinion, the cars will be faster at the tracks with long straights.

I'll be sticking with my FWD shortie for now.

Later
Doc

I have a set up question for you Mini experts.

I am running a M03 and the rear end of the car chatters during hard cornering on high traction carpet.

Here is my current set-up.
Front:
Blue short springs, no spacers
Ride height 4mm
60 wt., two hole piston, 4 black O rings as travel limiters
S grips over stuffed with black shaped insert over light grey foam
Black, medium sway bar
Universals drives
TA03 ball diff
Aluminum steering knuckes
Rear:
White short springs, 2mm spacer
Ride height 6mm
40 wt., two hole piston, 4 black O rings to limit travel
Slicks, with black foam inserts
Silver, heavy sway bar
0 degree rear blocks

Any suggestions on how to get the car to go through the corners smoother. The chattering really scrubs speed.

Had an absolute blast running my Mini Cooper for the first time last night at SoCal. Those guys had some retarded fast Mabuchi's. Guess they spend money on motors instead of refills on Viagra.... :-) That's for the razzing last night guys. See you all next Tuesday.

one! try M grip tires or even kit radials. (I've heard they work better on carpet)

is the chatter from the front or rear of the car? does the car over or under steer?

Yeah, a big difference in some of the Machuchi's - Wish I new the secrets! Great to see you out there, we were the largest class last night; 10 Mini's sure make alot of noise!

The chatter comes from the back. It may be a result of too much traction in the rear. If anything the car has a little push.
