Hey i read somewhere that Hara used to run double one-ways in his car (I think it was the old Pro3??)... double one-ways!

The part of the mod you can't see is that there are shock-seal type o-rings under the inverted purple cone washers bolted to the steering posts, and the holes that are enlarged are done so in the back and the front of the upper deck. This helps the upper deck "flex" and settle back into place without setting into a "tweaked" position.

hey mike..
i came across one of those SQUARE towers and put it next to mine and found that the outer most hole lines up but the other holes are all offset...the pro4 hara tower has holes that are significantly lower than the SQUARE tower. i hope that makes sense
anyways, the tower that comes with the hara edition has lower mounting holes that the SQUARE tower..

i recnetly got one of these and have i major question trying to get my gearing right.
is there anywhere i can get a better gearing sheet or can sum1 tell me how to do the equation.
the manual only goes down to 97 i think and one of my spurs is labeled 77

If you have a 77 tooth spur it is more than likely 48 pitch the book tells you how to figure you gear ratio it is spur/pinion x 2.4375

Is there a huge difference between the 2mm and 2.5mm chassis? Our track has low grip so I'm running the purple 2mm + .5mm silver for 2.5mm total for roll centers in the front, and 2mm + 1mm silver 3mm total for roll center in the rear (spacers under the suspension blocks). From what I understand this yields more grip. I had seen this set-up on Thad Garners set up sheet. It seem like the 2mm chassis is being disscontinued, Tower, KT, and speedtech do not list this chassis.

2mm chassis is the best chassis to use for outdoor asphalt racing. even better when combined with the 2.25mm top deck that is found on the '05 or Hara Edition Pro4's.

Try Hara's set-up from the Roar Nats from a few years back.. great base set-up for outdoor.

Shaft:
Pros: Instant acceleration, instant brake, arguably less maintenance. No consumables in drive-train. Easy to pull a diff out - depending on design
Can be argueably more efficient as nothing "gives" in the drive-train.
Cons: Not as balanced as belt as the motor has to be on one side. Can be a hassle pulling diffs out - depending on design. Can suffer from torque steer.
Can be harder on gears if you hit things.
Can be argueably less efficient as the drive has to turn 90degrees at the diff.
Belt:
Pros: Smoother feel, can be more balanced with the motor in the centre of the chassis, More forgiving on gears when crashed, can be argueably more efficient due to motor lining up with belts.
Cons: Belt wear out - require replacement and constant adjustments, are sensitive to dirt and debris, Acceleration suffers in comparison to a shaft car, braking not as strong as a shaft car..
There's very little seperating the top level kits... go for local parts support. Don't worry too much about whether it's a shaftie or a belt drive. Many drivers find a belt easier to drive as they're smoother and more forgiving... you can be rougher with the throttle..
But, then lots of drivers like the instant response of a shaft drive.. instant acceleration is hard to argue with..not to mention being much more resistant to debris (Ie. can run it in the street) and not having to replace belts...
Not so sure about the "Top end" comment above... i'd say it's even or better in a shaft's favour as there's no belt stretch...

I scored a 2mm chassis off of stormer. They were the only ones listing it, not even HPI's site lists it. Wonder if its beind discontinued? Heck even tower has the 2.5 as being discontinued. Has there been any rumors of a pro5? I know the pro4 was released in 04, My hara is only a few months old, wonder whats going on.

Only the stock 2.5mm chassis is discontinued.

Nice radio, I agree a little too late. I just bought my 1st ko propo Helios without a module for $179 at Ko's site. Added a spektrum and drop down wheel for the same price as this Futaba.
So Summer 07 for a new car? Wonder if it will remain a shaft, or will they follow their brother car and go back to belts? I just hope they dont follow the market and price this new car in the $400+ range, its getting to be rediculas, rc use to be affordable.

I guess you guys haven't seen Futaba's 3PKS 2.4ghz system yet.. to be released in May. check out the reciever.. tiny and no antenna wires...
The 2.4 GHz module features a short aerial, and is installed in the recess in the transmitter in place of the conventional RF module.
The long telescopic aerial is no longer required to transmit the RF signal.
The Futaba SS system is significantly faster in its response time than existing systems, and offers no less than three times faster HRS FM modulation for fast digital servos, in spite of the 2.4 GHz SS system technology.
The RF module can be set to operate using standard FM modulation or the HRS FM modulation process.
