Just curious since I'm running my PHI alittle different outdoors. The first time running with the 1.71 overall gear ratio with double diffs using a 13.5 novak motor.Next month I going to try a spool with the same overall gear ratio.Any comments?

I just sold off a bunch of my mid-range cars and am looking to get a top end car; most likely will be the Phi. I have some questions about what comes with the kit and which tuneing options are recommended. I'll be running on asphalt indoor and outdoor with a 13.5 brushless and 3200 LiPo.

1) Does the motor guard come with the kit?
2) What shock springs come with the kit? The Corally parts lists online lists 2 spring kits (6 pairs) Hard and Standard; do these overlap in hardness? Do I get both?
3) Does the kit come with sway bars? 1.3, 1.6, 1.9mm?
4) Does the kit come with all the shock piston choices? 0.9, 1.1, 1.3mm?
5) Is the 2.9mm chassis (US version) or 2.4mm best for asphalt? Does it really matter much if I occationally run carpet?
6) I'm hearing mixed messages about how the 3200 LiPo fits, is grinding required?

Thanks for your help.

Racebucks

1. No
2. Comes black springs but pick up the spring kit
3. No sway bars
4. One standard piston
5. Good question not sure????
6. 3200 Carbon edition will fit. You'll have to grind/sand a little extra especially towards the rear bulkhead.

I ran mine for the first time this weekend 13.5 bl and 3200 lipo. Car ran great all weekend. Great improvement from my original RDX

4) The kit includes 1.3mm pistons.
5) I would lean towards the 2.4mm chassis for asphalt. Yet, if you get either one it will be fine for carpet or asphalt. The thinner one would help more in high track temps during the summers.

Just found this picture of Marc Fischers RDX PHI from the German Nationals. It looks like it has a Tamiya suspension setup on it and some other changes as well.

Just curious what the difference between running a double diff set-up over a spool or one way for the outdoors. I'm running a 13.5 with either lipos or sub c's(1525 grams).I ran the double diffs on the older RDX. And last weekend I ran the double diffs on the PHI.

Running a spool or oneway would give the car much more on-power corner speed and steering.

With a spool the car would retain the braking of a diff, but will not turn-in very well.

A oneway turns in better than a diff, but as you know, no front braking. A oneway can be very fast because it gives you the on-power steering/speed and better turn-in compared with a diff. Basically, more overall steering...sacrifices rear grip off-power.

On most asphalt tracks, though, a spool is choice because it allows you to drive deep into corners once you get some of the turn-in lost back.
