I haven't seen a ball diff. Maybe 3 racing has one. They seem to carry a lot of R40 hop ups. Everybody uses the heavy diff oils to tune there diffs these days. Ball diffs and nitro just don't seem to mix very well. All the oil and grit fouls up a ball diff pretty quick, especially in the rear. Having a rear ball diff used to make if much easier to tune for the track. Traction comes up, you tighten it down. Low traction, loosten it up. It used to work really well, except when you guessed wrong for the main and the rear end slid around all over the place. Maybe the tires and chassis geometry has gotter better to the point that getting that last bit of grip isn't as importaint as consistant handeling and ease of maintenance.

Just wondering if anybody has any old/wrecked R40 bodies that they don't want. I'll be more than happy to pay for shipping charges. Thanks

Kind of an odd request. Do you want to blow them up or somthing? I've got a few. Not sure how much time I have to ship them. They are pretty rough though. What do you plan to do with them?

It might be easier to ask around at some local races.

The 05 Hara version is completely loaded and features a different upper deck and chassis than the previous R40 kits. I would opt for that one as it's sold in the US. The 04 is the Japanese version sold overseas...but you can probably get one for a great price. As for the MTX4 prospec it may be coming out soon, but lots of guys are doing great with a box stock mtx4.

The standard R40 US edition is a bit too heavy to be a direct comparison to that car. The 2004 aisa version has all the light weight parts on it, and the 2005 Hara US version has light parts plus an updated chassis, top plate and fuel tank. The 2004 Aisa and 2005 Hara flavors of the R40 are just as good as any other cars on the market right now. It really depends on what you like to run and what your local hobby shops stock for parts.

Truthfully thats unanswerable. Ive probably blown away some mtx-4's and vice a versa. It all depends on the driver.

Sadly the hara/05 kit is missing the TI screw kit, while the 2004 had it.

It doesnt really need the ti pillow balls , but they do help. HPI does offer them but there very hard to find.

Otherwise I pick up the 3racing CF suspension mounts and steering plate.

But there is a few more option parts that are worth taking a look at:

hpi cg arms (probably better for high grip flat surfaces and stiff setups)
hpi stainless brake disc
hpi adjustable rear sway bar
hpi v2 shocks
p-dub racing bumper (more wheel protection)
mugen mtx-3 clutch setup (better clutch action and tuning options)

Also try the hpi solid rear axle on the front for a spool.

The aluminum shocks that come with the Hara edition are the standard ones. The V2 racing shocks come with the teflon pistons and I beleive they are hard anodized. As for the CVD's, yes it does come with them except they more closely resemble universals.
