I personally agree with you guys 100% regarding the convenience of brushless and its ability to attract new people. I personally have little education with the onroad scene so I'm thankful for the information with regards to what people are running out there these days. It sounds like we'll need to address brushless for next year and may even replace the 19t requirement in the spec + class with BL.
I'd also like to say that I run for a brushed motor company and enjoy it immensely. (Thank you Banzai for your support)

Turbo- Hahahaha, you caught me, but I do have to take it out of the car first. Also I run offroad for the most part and we usually get a few more runs out of a motor than in on-road.
I totally understand the benefits of BL and in fact I like what they offer the hobby; just didn't want to alienate my good friends over at Banzai.

DOTMAN- I hear where you're coming from. Its always difficult to separate sponsored drivers from privateers and I feel like the 2 class system provides the best balance of fairness and simplicity. I would still encourage you to come out and join in on the racing action as it should be an exciting event; and the more participants we can get in the early stages the easier it will be for us to take this project to new heights in the future.
I'd just like to say thanks to Dotman and the rest of you for your questions and input. It is much appreciated and we're taking all of your suggestions into consideration. I hope to see many of you on the 16th along with any friends, family, and attractive young (but not too young) women you'd like to bring along.
Is it possible to have a third class for "Non Sponsored" people that own a regular (Hara/Surikarn/Moore Speed) Cyclone? I would love to participate in a non sponsored class with my Moore speed car that i just "purchased" last week. Currently, in order for me to participate in a Non sponsored class i have to buy a second cyclone (which i cant afford) after spending a chunk of dough on a Moorespeed Cyclone plus the new belts and pulleys to go with it. Furthermore, I believe there would be enough people to make this third class if it were available.
Thanks, Chris

Chris- When developing this race we almost went with a TCS style format. (ie. no sponsors of any kind allowed in any class) We have decided against that at the moment in an effort to allow as many entries as possible into the series. I don't anticipate a large number of factory entrants (not many guys with chassis sponsors are willing to/or necessarily allowed to buy/run competitor's cars) but to prevent those that do show from running against new hobby enthusiasts we kept it simple and went with a class that will allow them and a class that won't. If we build a solid following then we will certainly seperate into more classes to even the playing field as best we can; but that cannot happen without support from hobbyists of all kinds in the beginning.
Thank you for expressing these concerns, these are questions that we need to hear and over time will produce a killer race program.
Also, I've heard a lot about brushless now (both online and at the track) and it seems I've been living outside of the on-road loop. I had no idea that brushless had become the majority. I would honestly prefer not to change the power-plant rules this late in the game for this first race but I'm willing to remain flexible. If the brushed requirement will prevent entries, or if you know of others that will be willing to show up if we go brushless please let me know; or better yet have them contact me. I'd really like to get a head count going on whom is interested in these events.
Thanks for your time guys,
See you at the races.

I prefer to use brushless because it is what majority of people run. It is more hassle for me to buy a brushed motor that is only being used for this series than taking my brushless system out of my other car. I think if you want to keep the competition fair and the cost down, then brushless systems are the way to go. Certainly, if those who do not have brushless system, they can run brushed but of course people who does not have brushless system will complain.
I vote for allowing brushless system. Perhaps the Spec class use the 13.5 and Spec plus/pro class uses 10.5 brushless motors.
Yellowtaro- Thank you for your input. The spec class will be running the included closed endbell motors for sure as they are cost effective and keep the speeds at a good level for new entrants into the hobby. With regards to the spec + class it is becoming more and more apparent that brushless will be the way to go. For the Dec 16th date we are still sticking to brushed only; unless there is more of an outcry for brushless on that date (if people really start to bring it up in force I'd be willing to accomodate them). Also the system we're looking at would be a 13.5 as testing with Gumball tires has shown 10.5s to be right on the limit of their capabilities.

For those of you that are interested in the event on the 16th I'll be dropping off flyers with Ultimate Hobbies this afternoon and we will also have them at Bending Corners this weekend.
I'll also be dropping off some Cyclone S rtr kits so get them while they're hot.

For the first event, we’ll have two classes as following,
Cyclone-S Spec Class
-Chassis: Cyclone-S/Cyclone-S RTR w/No Chassis Modification
-Motor: HPI SATURN 27T MOTOR (Part#1144)
-Batteries: HPI Ni-Cd Battery Pack 7.2V 1500mAh (will be provided by HB for free of charge)
-Tires: HB GUMBALLS World Spec Tire (Part#61147) or MOUNTED RACING TIRE S COMPOUND (Part#61271) that come with the RTR Kit.
-Radio and Equipment: Any Radio Tx/Rx, ESC, Servos
-Bodies: All 190mm/200mm Bodies that manufactured by HPI/HB
(Bodies must be painted)
It doesn't make sense....you say RTR for this class yet I can install any ESC or Radio equipment I want to?
I have a Cyclone S that has an aluminum motormount and aluminum shocks. Would that give me a hugh advantage over everyone else? I doubt it.
