There was a shortage of them, maybe they're trying to make a buck. One downside that hasn't been well advertised is that if you plan to use them for lipo they will only do 2 cell packs, so no lipo receiver or transmitter pack charging on them.

I have one, it works well, menu system takes a couple of passes to get a handle on but it's not bad.

That's a BIG drawback...

I'm loving my VXR LiPo pack in my 3PK...thank goodness my ICE can handle it no problem...

In the meantime my Advantage is working well on my IB3800s

I have just bought this charger and was wondering how to get the clock to show on the display other than when you first turn the charger on?

Does Orion offer a software update for the original Advantage owners to make the charger LiPo capable?

I remember reading that they didn't, because most of the internals would need to be changed and it wasn't worth the cost.

Just returned from a 2 year break from racing, picked up one of these (LiPo
version) to charge my IB4200's
Does anybody have a charge profile they would recommend?
The 4200's from what i hear seem sensitive to chraging/discharging.
I'm guessing for linear;
5.5A.
3mv cut off.
Temp, Dont know.
Mah, Dont know.

Anybody use Step, find it any better?

Help would be much appreciated
Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure about mAh but I don't think you'd be too far off choosing 5000.

I wouldn't go above 45c for these cells.

Cheers.

Looking for proper profile settings for this charger and ib3800 cells. My cells are getting extremely hot after charge cycle and I don't know if I have everything setup correctly.

Hi, I just got me a Advantage Pro charger. On the box it clearly says: "Now LiPo ready!". But I can not find any setting for Lipo in the menu.

Can somebody help me here?

By the way, big disappointment this charger. Weird menus, cheap looking case, bad current measurements.

Charge at 5 amps with a 3mv/cell cutoff.

It's under Battery Data- Battery Type. You can select Nicd's, NiMH, and Lipo. I've had mine since April and really like it. Charged my first Lipo's with it yesterday (Some small 860Mh 2Cs) and it worked great. I also liked the fact that it worked with the pack's protection circuitry. I was shocked to see the charge amperage going down as the mA went up. I guess my Thunder Power charger did the same thing, but since I didn't have the LCD display, I never knew this.

Hey Guys,

I just got one of these chargers and I have to say, somewhat disappointed with its build quality. I expected a bit more from Orion. But anyway - what matters is how it charges. Got any ideas on a good method of step charging IB4200 cells??

From what I heard is that step charging on the 4200's is not recommended. They say that you should us linear at 5 to 6. well if you try it out let us know how it goes.
