TLR 22 Racing Buggy Thread

Ive had my 22 for a couple months now and now that I am really used to the car I have been making it more and more aggressive by making the car rotate more and more. For those that are new to the 22, once you get use to it, make the car super aggressive and it is a blast to drive. There is this one turn at our local track where all i do is turn in and straighten out the wheels and the car follows the long sweeper all the way around under full power with no steering. Stability is amazing lol. Hard to explain, as the car is not over steering, not really sideways, but just planted hugging the pipe. Love it.
Given the above, I believe that the team drivers actually still run the Orion Vortex ProRace (ORI28207) and not the newer Orion Vortex VST Pro (ORI28227). I guess I'll order the ProRace version and see what's the difference in performance.
Thanks for the information!
No you are. It geared right. You mostly bash so you don't want race gearing. Go with a 22 or 23 pinion. That motor has mostly all torque so you can gear the crap out of it. But you like to get long run times while bashing so keep it around 22 or 23. Check that the esc isn't getting overly hot also.

i noticed recently Trevor Adamo has moved his esc off the shelf and onto the chassis behind his shorty pack. Can any team guys comment on what this will do for performance? I run at WCRC and have tried all clay setups i find relative and still have not found enough low speed steering for the "way" I drive so im curious to see if this could help me.
Red front springs
Lower Inner front ball stud
Less over all caster
Front kick to 20 (20/10 from 25/5)
Remove all ball stud washers
Move battery further forward
Lower Spindles
Increase front camber
Lean in front shocks
Add toe in
What will I notice if I added more internal limiting on the front shocks? I am at 2mm now and was wondering if I go to 3mm what will it affect?

The easiest way to test extra droop without taking the shocks apart is to unthread the lower eyelet. Untread about a full turn on each side. That way if you don't like it just thread it back in and you don't waste all the shock oil and time. Taking droop out is a little harder unless you already have your shocks unthreaded alittle.

Feel free to flame me via pm's, not here this thread is about the 22.
The 22 is a good car, built and setup correctly they are dialed just like any car. There was also a local guy running an RB5 that was just as good as the 22's but he didn't race. I got to run my 22 for the first time yesterday and was very impressed, nice car.

I wouldn't consider 1st 5th and 6th making easy work of the class, especially considering the quality of the field. Jeremy was the best driver there no doubt about that. We only have one local that is at that level and he is a nitro guy. A dex210 took second, and one guy was running a 22 RTR.

Thanks Frank im actually running your posted setup with 28* total caster 1mm under the front inner balstud. the main differnces are I previously had 32.5 and 27.5 oil fr and rr but have now gone too 27.5 and 25 to give that a try see if it helps me out. will you be out at WC tomorrow night by chance?

32.5/27.5 will be too stiff for WCRC for sure, especially with those springs, and will not allow the suspension to roll enough to create the grip and rotation you are looking for.

I won't be there tomorrow. I will be there tonight and Sunday for sure, but beyond that, my plans are not set.

Most of them run the Vortex Pro (last years model) with negative timing...like I had mentioned. I believe the Vortex Pro motors are a little punchier than the VST motors which are a little smoother.
