Arrow SERPENT S500 1/10 EP 4WD Buggy

Source: www.redrc.net

Here are the first pictures of the new Serpent S500 4wd buggy. Shown today for the first time it retains the Durango feel while at the same time being completely new. The car has an anodised aluminium chassis with detachable sides and has some really nice details all over, especially the rear battery brace and quick release rear driveshaft for removing the batteries. It uses a dual pivot steering system and the servo is mounted betwen the posts and it was a revised geometry compared the the Durango.

Nice looking car. If that is the production chassis, it looks expensive. Very nice though. I like how thick those towers are too.

I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up with a molded chassis. I'd think it would be too expensive to produce something that intricate out of billet, and a casting I'm not sure would be strong enough. Not to mention the weight penalty if you're still running conventional cells.

That thing is SICK!

I NEED one! I hope the production looks just like it, I would fork over 500 for that one

WOW, that thing is nothing short of beautiful. First when I saw it I thought 'DURANGO' but then I read the actual post and realised I wasn't the only one
The lack of a top deck gives it a different look though (in a good way). Makes it nice, open and slim-looking.

Info is out there, it's a pressed alloy main chassis with screw on machined sides.

Very impressive. May turn off those that want or already use lipo though.
wonder if a lipo saddle can squeeze in there.

Could it be a sheet main chassis with the sides being made with the pressed powdered metal method

Why not mold the side pieces?

If you look @ the bottom of the buggy it looks like the sides & bottom are 2 pieces. Odds are you throw a few bucks into the kit & then you can replace the bottom for much less then a new chasis.

AFAIK, the sides are machined alu, the plate part of the chassis is stamped.

Like 1/8th's, but with alu side's really.
